Hello there,

This is almost embarrassing to admit, but I am finding Trespasser too difficult.  I love Dragon Age and have played the entire franchise on PC.  I have never experienced the frustration that I am now.

My group, all level 19, cannot get past the large battle in the Forgotten Sanctuary.  There are too many Qunari and too many Spirits to battle.  The anchor discharge ability is available sporadically, with no discernible pattern.

One time, I was able to light the needed brazier to go into the cellar and the hidden weapon cache.  The Qunari that were left upstairs didn't follow me.  Every other time I've tried this, they've followed the group downstairs.

The group I am playing with is a rogue elf, Cole, Dorian, and Cassandra as Divine Victoria.

Does anyone here have any tips?  This is so aggravating.  I am playing on casual and just want to experience the story, but I find that I am completely stuck.  The idea of not being to experience the rest of the game and not being able to get through the first battle is disheartening.

Thank you!

Candice

This doesn't help your problem, but you're under leveled. I was a level 23-24 before the main game was over.

AnimalBoy,

That does help!  I made a series of saves, two pre-DUAW, two-post-DUAW, so I can go back to some of those saves and level up.  I tried to follow the guidelines in the DLC about what level to be before I started, but it looks like that hasn't turned out so well.

yeah your underlevelled you need to be at least level 20 befoer considering taking on any of the DLC's in truth and even then you may finf d it better to do both the other DLC's such as JoH and Descent first as well to boost your lebvel some more as well  if you're not quiet where you need to be before then.

I agree that you're underleveled. I would also advise that you take plenty of Tacticians' Renewals in case you need to revisit your builds. Also beef up your armor and potions if you haven't already. You should have everything you need at Halamshiral to do crafting and upgrades.

Good luck! Trespasser is AMAZING.

Is this a first playthrough? Any Golden Nug schematics you can leverage from a previous, preferably level capped, playthrough?

If not, yeah, I think being under-leveled is the thing to fix. Also, having two rogues can be a bit rough. Consider swapping Cole out for another mage. Or switch Cole to an Archer if you are DW.

This is, indeed, my first playthrough.  I was apparently overeager to experience the continued story.

I'll definitely try swapping Cole out and see how that goes, after reloading one of my earlier saves to level everyone.

Level 20, all crafted, preferably tier 4 mats. Best to do JoH and Decent first for the mats and schematics. Explore, use Wikia if you must but, get the Taken shape, craft for all of your party ASAP. I know looks silly on some members but, it will get you through the end of Treaspasser much better than most armors. The stuff from decent is good too.

Plenty of potions for weaker team members, use pause to make them use more than just healing potions.

You are a rouge so, go with two warriors, I prefer Cassandra and Blackwall or, Iron Bull respeced to sword and board since AI and Reaver do not mix at all. Make sure you have a mage with Static cage upgraded, you won't have a rift mage unless you are one but, that helps too. Vivienne is good but, be sure she has barrier, ice mine, fade step and immolate with her base electricity spells. (she does not need KE since again AI is terrible with it.)

Two mages or two warriors works better than two rogues in there and, do kill them all, they can follow you downstairs so, kill them first and, you eliminate the chance of being overloaded with Qunari downstairs.

Na not underdeveloped per say but you need to do following to have an easier time:

1. Craft tier 3 weapons and armour for everyone with best masterworks effects you got any apply corruption runes to the weapons. Cass needs set to preferred horn of valour with fortified blast, war cry, livid, shield bash, spell purge then she is good to go maybe take payback strike or grappling chain if you have points left. Cole needs poison weapons with life steal, flank attack skirmisher, stealth, and toxic cloud with elusive, get twin fangs or shadow strike as damage and then hidden blades and mark of death if you have points left. Set flank attack and stealth to preferred. Dorian should have barrier upgraded, ice armor and chilling array ice mine (great defense and freezes enemies for you and Cole to shatter them) , horror, static cage and revival ideally if you have the points to get all of them, revival being probably more important than static cage in your case. He does not need walking bomb and addaditional damage abilities per se as you and Cole should be killing things with the tanking by Cass and support from Dorian.

2. Take fire and spirit resistent tonics with you.

3. Your rogue elf is he dw or archer specialized? I can't comment as I do not know in what abilities you use and have access to. Use flank attack with skirmisher on dw leaping shot with stealth on archer. As stated one of you probably Cole should take toxic cloud with elusive stack upgrade. You both should take poison weapons with life steal for better survivability.
