Is there any technical reason why you shouldn't be able to use your multiplayer manifest on multiple systems? The time and hassle this would save me personally would be unreal and I know I'm not alone on this.

I eventually ended up buying ME3 on pc and both consoles just so I could play with different groups of friends but the idea of starting from scratch a third time on PC was just unreasonable. People switch systems all the time - most of the time due to hardware failure. Given the time and monetary investment of building a multiplayer manifest in this day and age - I think it is reasonable to expect to be able to use it irrespective of platform.

You might find people would be more likely to re-purchase the game and it could have a beneficial effect on the longevity of the player base over time - perhaps the overall trend might be a gradual migration to the pc version as the consoles age and requirements become more accessible which might never happen under present conditions.

Technical not really, but  it would require Sony and Microsoft to allow network communication between them and I would think if that was to happen I believe a game like Destiny would have been where it started. If there was going to be support for something like this I think it would be for a much bigger game such as Call of Duty, Destiny, or Battlefront since they are more focused on multiplayer then something from BioWare.  You might see one console and PC cross communication, but I don't see the two consoles talking to one another.

Multiple games implemented something for transit to next gen. Gta had you download your character stats off their servers for transfer and i can take my characters from the 360 onto ps4 xb1 and pc.

The manifest information is saved serverside on bioware/eas end. If they configure the servers to alow access by all 3 systems then there shouldnt be an issue, besides A) how will it handle if im logged into the game on 2 systems at once? Or B) pc modding transferred to consoles.

I can see a Xbox PC transfer. Windows is trying to integrate with Xbox. Ps4 something else I don't see. Cooperation isn't easy to get.

I don't think it would; it's pretty much what DAI made with the Dragon Age Keep.

The reson this doesn't happen, I suppose, is financial; Sony and Microsfot probably take a cut from whatever is sold trough their stores, including weapon packs. And I doubt that MS would allow you to go on XBOXlive with the Harrier X that Sony profitted from (and vice versa).

The funny thing about Dragon Age: Inquisition is The Keep was cross platform, but from what I understand the Golden Nug feature is platform locked which to me is closer to how the ME3MP manifest works. I am thinking that there are certain things that the console platforms will allow to go in and out of their networks and other things they won't.

I never played ME3 Multiplayer, so I dunno how it works, but it would be reaaaalllllly bad for console+PC PVP. Mouse is generally much more of an effective tool for shooters. Two players can be equally skilled but the mouse user would have a huge edge against the controller user.

Now, in PVE, I see little problem.

What the OP is asking for isn't that PC and console players play together, but that the weapons and other unlocks you earn transfer between platforms so you don't have to grind the unlocks if you want to play on a different platform then you have been.

Ah, then I misunderstood.

So, what, EA doesn't use the same accounts for everything? Or are the unlocks downloaded locally?

EA uses the same accounts for everything. Now I don't fully understand the console ecosystem because I play on the PC, but I think its more about what data that Sony and Microsoft are willing to let be transmitted out of their networks and also allow a developer to read/use/modify/etc.

Yes, but that's because the Golden Nug feature deals with content only available trough DLC.  If you synched it croos-plat, you'd have, for instance, people on Playstation with schematics that they aquired trough paid DLC, which they bought from Sony Store. That is the main issue.

The synching of a save file to an external server, and then an import to any given platform - which is what the Keep and Uplay for some Ubi games are - is relatively simple. Even ME3's manifest exports that data, hence the N7HQ. When they start to having to deal with "who bought what from where", that's when the issues start.

Once you start dealing with "who bought what where"

They do. And there are also paid packs that you can buy; either from Xboxlive or PSN (and I assume Origin on PC). That's why I believe there's no cross-manifest.
