How do you rearrange your party members when it comes to equipping them?

I couldn't find the answer to this anywhere and bothers me enough that I created an account just for the sake of finding out. Every time I want to equip weapons, accessories, potions, or edit the character record I have to scroll through all the characters until I get to the ones that I use. For example the Inquisitor comes first, then Cassandra (I don't use her), Sera (I do use her), Dorian (I use him), then Blackwall, Cole, Vivienne (dont use any of them), then Solas (I do use him). It's so annoying that I'm about to just change it up and specifically use the first three--Cassandra, Sera, and Dorian--so that I don't have to keep scrolling through the rest of them as it takes a surprisingly large amount of time in order to scroll past every character I don't use just to take care of the ones I do. Is there a way to fix this so that the order of characters, in play or not, are always in a way that I want them to be? Does that make sense? I am of course not referring to the very simple "change party members option you have before each quest or at the camps. Please let me know if I should clarify. I hope I put this in the best thread. Thanks so much!

Hrm.  I get what you're asking, but I never really considered it "a thing" to be vexed over.  Have you tried just going left instead of right?  Seems if you want to skip most of the ones when going right, then you're wanting the ones at the other end of the line, so go left from Inky and you'll hit them first.

Better question:  How am I supposed to read with all that highlight blinding me ?

 

Anyways, If you don't use someone, first:  WHy did you recruit them (even Cole and Dorian can be rejected, Cassandra is required, as is Varric and Solas, but with only 4....)?Also, if you don't use someone, then equipping them properly really isn't much of a problem.

 

Anyways, I only give them equipment if they are in use (IE: out in the Field), or specially designed for certain combats (IE fighting the Fereldan Frostback after giving Fire-retardant armor)

Best way to avoid going through all the companions is to change equipment away from Skyhold. Select your party then go somewhere, you'll only have those companions to scroll through.

You can't. You have to live with it.
I use pretty much everyone except Varric, Bull and Sera. But I make spare things for everyone so they all have their own. So once they're equipped the first time, that's it, I don't need to do it more, I might switch a ring or necklace once in a while but nothing bothersome. Can't really see the problem here :-P

Best way to avoid going through all the companions is to change equipment away from Skyhold. Select your party then go somewhere, you'll only have those companions to scroll through.

 

I told him that. Also told him to maybe put things in the right sections, because the previous thread the guy made was in the DA2 boards... Not like he learned much, right...

Yeah. Seems to only have heeded my suggestion to make things in proper places (could that be what she said?) and not the actual game-related suggestion.

There is indeed nothing you can do about this except not recruit companions you don't use in combat. Sorry.

While I keep my regular crew outfitted with the best of everything, I do still equip the rest with some of the leftover bits -- lower quality rings, amulets, weapons, and so on. To that end, when there comes a time when I want to go over everyone's gear, I will go to a map and just hang out in the camp for a bit. I will do the warriors first (my PC is one), then rogues, and finally the mages. I will also use the opportunity to level up the characters I rarely use that will have an accumulation of skill points.

 

But for normal equipping, leveling, and the like? I've never really had a problem with just scrolling through. Also, you get to learn where they are in the list as time goes on. Cassandra is 1 to the right, Dorian is 3 to the right, Varric is 2 to the left, and Cole is smack dab in the middle, so it makes no difference.

 

The only suggestion I can give is that you allow some of the newer gear to build up a bit so you don't have to do it as often, with the exception of a nice weapon upgrade or somesuch.

 

And I realize this is a bit patronizing, but don't sweat the small stuff. You are allowing this minor inconvenience to hinder your enjoyment of the game, and even considering allowing it to alter your style of play (that is, by changing your regular crew).

Do your inventory management in the field, that way people not in your party don't show up?

I think Serza you're talking to me even though you said him, this is literally the first time I've ever been mistaken for a guy online or in real life so that caught me off guard but I have no idea who else you would be talking to. But assuming yes, to you and anyone else being rude or complaining--I have no idea where I'm posting if this is the wrong section. Between Discussion (Spoilers) vs (Not Spoilers) and then Gameplay Strategy and Characters, Discussion (Spoilers) sounded like the best fit. I don't spend any time on this forum..clearly! I didn't even know there was a Dragon Age that isn't Inquisition because I only own like five games altogether. And out of the options I saw this one seemed like the best one after the link I came up with in my original Google search resulted in multiple people getting upset..over my post being in the wrong section, as if it really makes that much of a difference, and as if someone who hasn't ever used the forums before should know exactly where everything is located.

 

Anyway, I know I don't need to equip all of them and also clearly I didn't know if I would use them or not when recruiting them because I didn't know anything about them or their stats, their personalities, etc. Which would lead back to my original question--is there a way for me to rearrange my party? It's a pretty simple question with a pretty simple answer. Not that big of a deal, and it's the only question I've ever even bothered asking as I've been able to find out every other question I had with Google. But I would still prefer to be able to have my preferred party members be the first 3 as opposed to scrolling through every single one in situations such as starting a new quest or when equipping members. I know the order of the characters so I know how many clicks up or down to go. In the same way I like to have my toothbrush next to the sink rather than in my room because thats where I use it, I'd rather have the characters I use be upfront where I use them. Doesn't take up that much time, but it's still annoying and seems like it would be a simple fix. Jeez.

 

I ended up just getting rid of Solas and swapping him out for Cole. I didn't like anything Solas had to say anyway and thought Cole looked stupid but the things he says in the background are amusing enough to keep him around. I mostly only use my character and Sera because she's a rogue and Dorian for barrier. I do appreciate some of the straight forward answers, though. That's all I wanted to know and I have to say before I sign off. Hopefully I don't end up having any more questions!

You can't rearrange the list order of companions except when you're out in a world map. You can however hit the scroll arrow multiple times to skip directly to the companion you want. For example, hitting the right arrow five times takes you to Cole. Hitting the left arrow four times takes you to Vivienne, and to the left of her is Cole.

 

Cole < Vivienne < Solas < Varric < The Iron Bull < Inquisitor > Cassandra > Sera > Dorian > Blackwall > Cole

 

5 < 4 < 3 < 2 < 1 < 0 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5
