I know Bioware will never go back to the Milky Way Galaxy again but what do you think of this idea? And I know this disregards the 3 choice endings. The Council races are probably more united and this ignores that. This idea is probably more feasible if the Council becomes weak and divided and the galaxy experiences an economic collapse.
The reapers are all destroyed. After 10 years after the Reaper War the damage to Council worlds are repaired. The Mass Relays are repaired.
The peace does not last for long. The galaxy is thrown into a war of ideology that could last hundreds possibly thousands years.
The Turian Hierarchy is thrown into civil war. Turian worlds who want a more democratic less militaristic government cede from the Hierarchy. Should Garrus Vakarian lead the separatists?
Or perhaps this. Vakarian favors making Turian society more democratic and less militaristic. This angers some in the Turian military and its backers in the arms industry. They rebel against Primarch Vakarian.
Humanity is at war with a resurgent Cerberus.
The Asari have divisions of their own. Powerful greedy corporations vs Justicars and more compassionate less greedy Asari.
The Krogan are lead by Urdnot Wrex and he is trying hard to keep Krogan society together. The warlike Krogan leaders plot to overthrow Wrex. Krogan mercenaries hire themselves out to the different factions.
The Salarian civil war involves scientists who support uplifting species and using them for their own gain. They secretly develop horrifying biological weapons for use on the other species. They are opposed by Salarians favoring ethical use of science.
This conflict might be better for an MMO where you create your character and have the choice to choose different races and factions to join.
