Griffon's yay! I'm toying with the concept of getting my Inquisitor a griffon, because Last Flight spoilers below!

apparently griffons are no longer officially extinct! Though at this point, I figure only a handful of people in Thedas know about this, because their re-discovery is so recent, but I’m hoping they’ll appear in a future game.

 

When I had just started reading Last Flight, and realized how much I loved the Dragon Age version of griffons (their nature mostly, but also the whole riding thing - it’s like HTTYD on steroids!), I really wanted to figure out a way to get Taerel a griffon. It would mess up canon a lot, but that’s what head-canons are for, right? I knew that it was disease that had killed them, I just didn’t know the details… so I figured, what if the wardens from back then managed to magically preserve a bunch of eggs? And I can have Taerel find them on one of his many travels!

 

Little did I know that the magically-preserving-eggs thing is exactly what happens in the book, making this concept a lot more plausible. I won’t have to completely mess up canon, just change the timeline a little.

 

Isseya hid the eggs in a different place, and Valya took longer to discover their existence, long enough for the Inquisition to have already formed. The eggs also weren’t ‘protected‘ by demons because dead bodies everywhere, but because there was a rift inside the old dragon den, actually requiring Valya and the others to ask the Inquisition for help to get to the eggs. So that is how Taerel gets involved.

 

And I figured, at that point they don’t yet know that Corypheus’ dragon isn’t actually an Archdemon, but Isseya’s journal made it pretty obvious that the griffons were mighty effective against fighting an archdemon (or any dragon for that matter, because aerial battle) even when they weren’t tainted with the blight. SO… they trust one of the eggs to Taerel aaaaaaand yeah. XD Here we are. Let’s just assume that they grow fast, m’kay? >> Anyway, like I said I'm still toying with it, so we'll see where it goes.

Well this was a nightmare and a half to finish. I failed my goal of posting on Thursday (or Friday maybe?) because my little sister informed my half way through the day that she did in fact want a painting for her birthday (which was yesterday), so I had to drop what I was planning on finishing, and work on this instead. It's still DA related though, so I thought I would share it here! It's a tarot card for her templar inquisitor Kenan Trevelyan.

 

 

Hopefully I'll get the other picture I was working on done soon too!

So far, I've styled her hair as much as it would allow me. Oh, and sorry for the photo quality. My camera's kinda sh*tty.

I drew this before the game came out... so, it's old. And I didn't know how things would look, yet. Also, I don't let myself spend much time on fan art (because I have projects to work on, dangit!), so it's more a sketch than anything. Also, I was trying out new brushes (that I have since abandoned because meh). Also, I've posted this somewhere before, I think, but I don't have any other Inquisitor drawings, so.

 

Disclaimers out of the way, I think it turned out kind of ok?
