So, I've been thinking about this for a while. Everyone is questioning why the hell a new protagonist would want to get involved in that whole stop/kill solas thing in the new game. It makes more sense for the inquisitor to be the one, but its clear that Bioware wants to have a new protagonist for every new game.

Everyone seems to assume (maybe because of the dev comments) that when Mythal sent her "essence" through the mirror it was intended for Morrigan.. BUT... what if it is not? Bioware is trolling us...

Im thinking something similar to baldurs gate.. maybe it went to a whole new person altogether, and that person will be the new DA4 protagonist.

Of course he/she wouldnt realise it until some mid-point of the game. Then it would make some sense for that person get involved in solas's business, maybe to a more personal level.

What do you guys think?

PS: english is not my first language, hope you get my meaning.

I SO WANT THAT TO BE THE CASE!

I am getting so hooked on the idea of Mythal vs Solas...

Seriously, Mythal cannot be done. She just can't

Btw, at the end of What pride had wrought, when Cory is trying to follow you through the mirror after you drink the well, a figure made of water emerges from the pond and stops Cory. Who is that entity?

But why would she send it to a random nobody?

It doesn't really work as a reason for a new protagonist when she could have just as easily sent it to the Inquisitor, who at least has a proven past of stopping crazy ancient Gods from tearing down the sky.

Because solas know the inquisitor and his/her methods.. thats the excuse anyway at the end of trespasser.

The only problem is that canon stablished that the host must be willing, but then.. the new dai protagonist could be (depends on how bioware will handle the origin I believe)

I don't think it's a terrible idea but we already went through this in DAI , you're special because elven god's orb.

And it would push Mythal as a plot element only there to provide power and special snowflake status unless she has agency over the player , and I'm not sure people would like that.

I mean you could do that and like the OGB you would have dream and let's say Mythal is manipulating you through dreams , she doesn't directly influence your actions or has power over you ,just showing you stuff that might change your opinions etc..but again after ME3 and the dreams Shepard had , I'm again not sure it would be wise.

One thing about Flemeth is she never selects random nobodies. She saved two wardens who become Heroes and possibly a king and she saved the future champion of Kirkwall. So if she trusted something important to any person that person would be far from a random nobody.

You are all assuming Morrigan was her only daughter of that generation. Morrigan is the only one we saw but, Mythal/Flemeth is known for having many daughters. We know it only takes a fragment of her to be in a place in the flesh so, perhaps she has other daughters near Morrigan's age and, that is where the piece of her went. Mythal did tell us that a soul is not forced on the unwilling and, Morrigan was pretty unwilling so, it's possible Flemeth has another daughter who is willing to take the soul.

Still the Devs would not do that because, it would force us to play as a female and, that won't happen.

Whomever the next protagonist is has to be able to be at least male or female and, most likely also able to be any race we choose.

I'm not getting in to that particular argument again (or at least not right now! :P  ), but my point is that doesn't change if Flemeth wanted to send her power to somebody.

Either the Inquisitor is capable of fighting Solas and it would make more sense to send the power to her, or she is not, in which case we don't need the "Flemeth sent her power to someone else" argument in order to get a new protagonist.

It seemed like your first post was saying this would be a way to get around the "Inquisitor should be the protagonist" argument - sorry if I'm misunderstanding that!

As a more general point to this idea - it's interesting, but I don't like the idea of another random person just stumbling into this massive power and being another special snowflake. I liked it in Inquisition (mainly because I played an Elf, so the whole idea of being the saviour for a human religion was horrifying for her), but generally prefer to play more normal characters. Maybe as something we could earn later on in the game? - like, she locked it away somewhere, and we have the choice to take that power for ourselves late in the game.

To me, that scenario just adds an extra negative element (special snowflake chosen one with Mythal's power) to a scenario I already hate. I HATED the special snowflake chosen one status the inquisitor had and now that they've lost that status and more, now that they are set to go through a real personal struggle both physically and mentally and have a huge motivation to stop Solas the inquisitor has become a character that is interesting to me, one that I want to play again and have him finish his own story. Switching over halfway to some unconnected random Joe is bad enough, but to have that random Joe also be a special snowflake? No thank you. In any case I hope when the game is announced that they'll let us know if the inquisitor is the protagonist again or if it's a new person.

I actually think this would be cool, minus the soul thing. If our PC starts having these weird prophetic dreams, waking up in unfamiliar places in a fugue state, etc. and it's all part of Flemythal's machinations.

Another known daughter of Flemeth is Yavana ( showed up in the comics ) but Alistair killed her ... or so we were made to believe.
