In DA4 the only team up with any hope of stopping Solas is between Divine Leliana and the Nug King! As Descent demonstrated, the nug king understands human and nug speech alike. They are also literally everywhere. Since Solas knows Leliana's spy network and can counter it for the most part, the nug king and his followers are the perfect weapon to gather intel on Solas's next move.

Additionally, Solas does express in Trespasser a desire to be proven wrong on the need to destroy the world as we know it. A nug alliance and benevolent nug king working with the chantry would melt his heart. Even better, there is a good chance that Leliana would expand the chantry's ranks to nugs as soon as the nug king demonstrates the intelligence and critical thought of nugs. This would then lead to nugs dressed in chantry outfits, which would clearly be enough to convince Solas that the existing world is worth keeping around.

Please share any other theories or thoughts on the nug alliance. With any luck, the nug king will be the savior of Thedas in DA4.

Nor in mine. Leliana is best divine, either hardened or softened.

I've only softened Leliana...I'm such a creature of habit plus I can never kill anybody (or suggest killing anybody) if I don't have to do so.  :P

I have had a Hardended Leliana; she's awesome either way though so don't worry about it!

Since she had two different sets of spies under her nose and more than one dude made its way into Skyhold without being catched, she would eventually screw such advantage.

If the Nug King has to team up with someone then it must be Chauncey the tiny bear, Lord Woolsley and The Queen of Dragons, Solas would never see such alliance coming.

I vote for Storvacker.

Though, regardless of whether Leliana's Divine, she's still an avid nug breeder and a spymaster. Army of nug spies? No one would suspect it!

(Solas plan basically)
Solas: I was unable to kill the Evanuirs, so I had to seal them away, however that destroyed my people, so now I'm gonna break the Veil.
Inky: But you are going to free those Evanuirs.
Solas: I had plans.
Inky: Didn't you just said you were unable to kill them?
Solas: Look! Your arm is disintegrating!

If Solas has taught us anything, is that his awful plans just get everyone else killed. He's 2/2 on causing an apocalypse when trying to save the elvhen.

This is why I hope at the end of his story, he's left alone among all the dead elves that followed him.

Corypheus was imprisoned by the mage Wardens and placed in a deep slumber. Maybe Solas intends to do something similar?

Excellent point on the other allies! Since it's established that Lord Woolsley in particular brought great fortune to his owners in Redcliffe, he will definitely make a great adviser, assuming the inquisitor did not attack him

Everything would turn out the same, although there would be no chantry nugs or nug divines in the future. This would make it more difficult to stop Solas since a completely original outfit would be needed to dress up the nugs in order to impress Solas and any other elf gods.

If nugs have the same inherent resistence to magic as dwarves (living underground for centuries, building up a resistance to lyrium and all), the Nug King and his troops will make that much more invaluable allies. Where's your magic now, Fade Nerd?

Thank the Maker. I thought this was going to be a thread claiming that the Warden, Hawke, and the Inquisitor needed to band together to stop Solas as some sort of Justice League: Thedas Edition.

Don't forget the mabari.   Dog can play Wicked Grace and I wouldn't be surprised if Cullen's one learnt how to beat him at chess.   They might well come up with some alternative methods for tracking Solas.

 I don't know if you realize how hilarious that line is.

Unless you romance him, Solas doesn't see any modern Thedas races (dwarves, elves, humans, Qunari) as "people" either.

Oh, I can see it now.

*Cassandra, Leliana, Harding, and Inquisitor all gathered around War Table, making final plans to follow a lead to Tevinter*

Cassandra: All right everyone, let's move out!

Inquisitor: Nah. I think I'm gonna sit this one out. *sits down*

Everyone: *stares*

Cassandra: ... Why?

Inquisitor: Because Solas doesn't see me as people. That means there's nothing I can do. *takes a swig of wine*

Leliana: But... you said he doesn't see any of us as people.

Inquisitor: Then I guess none of us can stop him. Let's hope that Abelas fella has this covered.
