Sure, but have never chosen to play a murderer; only as an officer in service to the Alliance. Have not even played as Renegade Shep.

So killing someone in the name of an organization is ok with you?

You'll lose this battle by attrition. No one on this forum is more patient.

Its fun to read while taking a break from gaming. Kbomb never gave up, and that is why The Witcher 3 thread is over 500 pages.

End of discussion on other topics besides language.

I just think that it's bizarre to have an issue with 'bad' language, and issues with nudity, but no issue with shooting hundreds of living beings, that's all.

Not my point but agreed, nonetheless. Just saying people once demanded these things, but now freakout when we instead "watch" or "play" it in movies or games. Just saying we kept the need for violence but got rid of how we produce it... well, except boxing, but people die rarely now.

As for swearing, says the man who uses the C and F words... among others. Just missing XY &Z, then you'll have the whole alphabet. Oh Sandor, you're such a hound  ^_^--- whoops, I mean  uh.... -_- Sheet... rofl no you're right tho Giant. Over use of swearing is unnecessary.

I'm not sure if it is the violence itself. The thrill, the adventure, the tensions, that's what makes people tick when it comes to fiction. Sure, it can come from explosions or people hacking at each other with swords. But political thrillers and courtroom dramas (among other examples) are also pretty big, replacing martial violence with a bloodless form that still manages to entertain loads of people. I mean, the most popular games in the world are things like Candy Crush Saga and Bejeweled.

That's partially my fault too I bet.

Depends on the organization. As one that served in the military, am good with that premise.

I do as well, but with most MMO's for some strange reason I keep them on.  Just for fear they'll ban me if I use that kind'a language.  Sounds kind'a dense.   But, there ya go.

They don't perma-ban. Usually a light suspension for the first offense. If it continues though it could lead to a perma-ban, but you'd have to do it a lot. Also depends on the severity and the word used.

SW is for Teens, so excessive content is not required.

Han shooting Greedo was excessive?

How so? It was pretty much self-defense. Greedo was there to murder Han and collect the bounty, but like all movie villains he wasn't going to do it until he gloated first. Han just didn't let him finish.  B)

Sounds like the excuse the templars had ^_^ "we do not tolerate all these profanities but we are ok with committing them in the name of whatever"

Also...it's a game..off your high horse, templar! relax

This from a poster with violence as his handle....

That has nothing to do with anything. Its just a user name.

You were in the military. How did you avoid being around others who swore? I knew a few guys in my platoon who never cussed. They had no problem  doing things with those who used foul language as well as very graphic language when we went off-post to bars or do whatever. And when on training exercises, foul language was heard constantly.

I did not avoid it. Was the youngest one serving at the time, and the environment began to corrupt my own speech a bit. It was friends from outside that helped me become aware of this, and then I managed to better maintain discipline. The others were aware I did not swear, and nothing much was made about it.

And I would hopefully not give in to harsh language. What you choose to do has no affect on my RP, and most likely the reverse is also true.

What you do with your PC is your buisness.
Though I've been thinking about your squadmates/NPCs in general.

The first step is to admit it. We are all ok with swearing if it adds to the development of a character or the context and so on. You are the one comparing the morality behind some things. The conversation ended up where we are now. So i'm afraid you are quite mistaken ^_^ you are using a shield as a weapon..not to defend yourself

Got it.

It is possible to like films or games that are safe for kids and others that are only appropriate for mature audiences or players. Not all works of fiction need to have the same tone or the same target audiences. My having a handle that references a Star Wars film isn't inconsistent with also thinking that the Mass Effect devs don't need to shy away from salty language or other mature content.

Do not recall doing this either. I prefer not having excessive content, and skip games and gameplay that have it. Do not remember insisting that anyone join my stance. Perhaps my own defense of not swearing is creating enough turbulence to shake the balance of someone's shoulder chip....

Agreed; like both Star Wars and Dragon Age. However, I would prefer the latter to have less profanity, and encourage this take for ME:A, too.

You know the rules though, Light. Try and get around the censor and get in trouble.
