You know, just skimming over this thread makes me feel sorry for game developers and people with creative talents in general.
The idea that you would have to always second guess what you're composing lest somebody's feelings gets hurt really sickens me.
Swear words to me are simply that; words often expressed with passion which can either be negative or positive.
Negative version: I'm going to f ----ING kill you!
Positive version: that is so f---ing awesome!
They are words, nothing more and nothing less. People have been swearing for many years, and there are worse things in the world, much worse things than than a *gasp* naughty word.
For an example, I find people on this forum and their passive aggressive Nature to be much worse than the good old swear word. Why? Because they are clearly insulting other people, in a somewhat cowardly, yet at the same time arrogant way. Reeking of "I'm above you." And getting away with such behaviour because there aren't any visible insults or swear words.
This is how politicians fight Wars, and to me they are no better than say Jack or Sera.. Hell at least those two are down to earth and honest and don't dance around the bush with their intentions. Even if their vocabulary is "obscene" or "inappropriate".
So if MEA doesn't have people swearing like sailors with sore thumbs, the terrorists win?

I just saw The Hateful Eight. My god, if that was not one of the best ****** movies I have ever seen. and you know what, even if you toned down the gore to a less.... Tarantino-level that movie would have still been beautiful. take out the swearing and vulgar expressions though? would have made it boring and colorless.

No, it would be intellectually and artistically superior. Blood and gore and swearing and violence and sex are all just cheap marketing and used for shock value because the Creators lack true artistic talent. What we need is a movie about a tranquil character with no emotions and no personality who just sits there and does.. Nothing, for three hours.

Great movie yup, seen it twice. Jennifer Jason Leigh was terrific, never really watched anything else she was in before. That's Tarantino's style though, OTT, unapologetic crazy fun plus memorable dialogue and a banging soundtrack. Love his movies.

As a rule, I avoid murder in my games, though I do kill many in self-defense, war, etc. Exceptions are made when playing some Evil characters (eg; Storm of the Century in Dwarven Assembly). And I also use the Gore toggle; hope to do so with Language filter in future games.
The gore toggle isn't really the best comparison, because it's actually kind of useless when it comes to the actual display of violence. I turn it off because I think the blood speckling doesn't really enhance the effects of the combat. It was especially bad in DA:O, where even killing rats makes your PC look like s/he was going hogwild with a chainsaw in the barn. But stuff like beheading that turns enemies into Sanjuro blood fountains still existed, and enemies still burst into bloody puddles.

That whole they're angry part sounds like a 10 year-old to me though, but that could be the voice actor, as I only play male characters. And I understand you may prefer a different option, but at least give other players the option to put in a bit of a heavier load, eh? Leaves you with two other choices to pick from. And I prefer this one:

Still use other options in dialogue.

I have reacted to everyone being so polite. They want to kill you, even eat you and skin you, but they say so in gentle terms.
I understand it ends up this way, but imagine if Shepard observed someone in the ship talking trash, but when they notice Shepard do they quickly try to rein in the vocabulary. Quite realistic that at least some ends up in that situation.
