Do you have multiple accounts?

No. Does someone else post with as much style as you get from my poor English skills fueled by my dyslexia, laziness and auto corrupt powered typing skills.

Or was it my quasi defense of whoever? I always find it off when someone outright attacks someone and that perdon responds in kind how it's the responder who gets the flack. Is it because they hold a differing view so it's okay to be rude to them, mob mentality rules, is it some pecking order thing the initiator is the bully and its against social norms to stand up to them?

I don't mean to be rude but wouldn't that make you an idiot is an attack. The overly verbose response was a retaliatory attack. Why jump on the retaliatory attack and not the initial one? It just felt like piling on the unpopular guy to me.

Perhaps I read different tone into each post, but the original post seems to be poking fun at a fragile argument, whereas the post I responded to simply sounded patronizing.

I did not mean you personally. I meant that the poster may simply be responding to the earlier remarks made against him and others in a sim fashion. It is not wise, as it can also lead to Warnings; best to simply report obnoxious behavior as requested in the ToS.

And yet note the complete omission of the term in the first two games, expansions, and DLC. That is again omitted in the lore that does appear seems to support the extant euphemism; not the modern utterance. And I am unaware of Varric ever using the bomb.

Prefer not to include it.

That something is in the third game that isn't in the first two games isn't a very convincing tack, though. There are lots of things like that that you obviously don't take issue with. And it's still not a modern term.

In any case, I'd prefer they include it, though not excessively, because it has value for narrative and characterization. And I'm quite confident that people who feel the way I do outnumber the people who feel the way you do, and the people who are indifferent to it outnumber us both.

I certainly hope they never waste their time, energy, and resources on something as silly as a toggle. I doubt they will. But if they ever do such a thing, and I'm still hanging around this forum, I will paypal you $1, Elhanan. That's a promise.

There may be as much value in including profanity as that promise. And simply because a majority may exist on either side does not make it correct.

Well, this is certainly true. At least I'm pretty confident which direction they're gonna go regardless.

Anyway, Zaeed. Still be best.

Ah, ok. I was confused by your answer. To me it sounded as if you were them.

Realm hopping is seriously poor etiquette. God should know better.

Which I have, and will continue to do, until such person or persons can learn to behave.

I'm growing weary of the double-standards here.  I wish to contribute in a good manner, like several here, but if the rest of you really don't like that, then just as well; however, that does not give you the right to hound me like this.

You don't bash someone in a wheelchair because they can't walk, and you don't hate someone for the color of their skin, so why the hate for someone who simply wants to use the English language the way it was meant to be used?

I suggest you mind your own behavior.

I understand that it´s important to defend oneself against verbal attacks but how it´s done is something you should learn.

Eloquence isn´t everything.

Nineteen pages and no one has posted any Stephen Fry? Disgraceful behaviour.

I see Fry. I press like.

You overplayed it a bit with this one.

Indeed, and likewise.

And if people would stop attacking, then I wouldn't need to defend myself.

Not to mention the c-word, I think is even older. But man I am glad that word doesn't appear in game, that would be going slightly too far, I think.

The c-word is old but originally wasn't considered obscene. It was even used in medieval medical texts. For some reason it later went from being a rather neutral term, like vagina, to one of the most profane words in the English language.

I would've put up some Malcolm Tucker but the first video I used was just a Jerma one and I still got dinged so

FYI - Posters do and have attacked the disabled; am personally in that category, so don't be too surprised for attacks based on any area.

There will always be the need to defend oneself. As soon as you have an opinion on any topic you are bound to meet resistance.

He was amazing as Jeeves. The house actor whose name I'm blanking on did a great Bertie Wooster.

Wodehouse is in my top 5 authors.

Quite true, and it's because of its nowadays vulgar use that I don't like hearing it or using it, rather than the history - which I do find interesting.

Depends on how you identify as disabled, and whether it is something that is recognized. And also if you're being attacked because you're disabled, or in spite of it.

Honestly? Having a preference for language, and being disagreed with is in no way similar to discrimination.

Also, I don't believe you're being hounded, there are simply a number of people who happened to respond to your post; it happens in busy threads, it's not exactly a lynch mob situation.

I appreciate this quaint anecdote. And language is always interesting!

I'm happy to pull out a few more Zaeed memes if needed. Unfortunately, the language in them is probably actionable here.
