I'm happy to pull out a few more Zaeed memes if needed. Unfortunately, the language in them is probably actionable here.
It's probably the Jackisms that would really put you at risk

Jack is fine, but don't know if she's nearly as memorable or quotable as Zaeed was, sadly.
Do you realize that being civil entails not being a condescending prig? Just wondering.
The poster seems to be responding in kind, as I recall.
Seldom does rationality get in the way of advice flinging hypocrisy.

Gotta find the "Sassy Gay Zaeed" audio. I can find the memes, but I haven't been able to find the audio in years. I think it's the same guy.

I don't like swearing, not that i don't do it but i don't find it necessary in any game that said i wouldn't mind one or two swear words in the heat of the battle.

Going a bit OT, but are there any Ben Bova fans here? I thought As On a Darkling Plain had one of the best uses of profaniity-for-emphasis that I've ever seen in any medium. The protagonist drops the F-bomb, for the first time in the entire work, about two pages from the end of the book.
And yes, it's one of those occasions where, really, nothing else would do.
Likewise jumping around a bit, but if anyone is a fan of Damien Rice's music - I think that he uses profanity very effectively (and affectingly) as well. Sparingly, still, but yeah.
It has its place in art.

Something flanders like
Hello everybody.
This is me waving the white flag of peace here, and this might be a bit lengthy, so please bear with me.
It seems we are all getting out of hand with this topic.
As far as my role in the matter is concerned, I believe miss Lady Luminous put it most accurately when she stated I was a "colossal prig".
I want to be the first to admit my pride is one of my failings, and in that case, I wanted to apologize for any tone from me that came across as being such a prig.
The reason I feel so strongly about this subject is because there have been many people in my life who have caused me... indignities, and one of the "characteristics" common across them all was the heavy use of foul language.
I have generally found a connection between the use of such language and those same people doing bad "things" to others, things that I believe the many decent people on this forum would all agree are rather horrendous.
To be fair, I'm not trying to "guilt-trip" anyone, nor is this a play for sympathy, I simply wish to provide some context and hopefully some understanding as to where I am coming from; and granted, I wouldn't be surprised if a few think I'm making this up. Such is the realm of the Internet.
Now, I know that not everyone is like that, that not everyone who swears is a bad person; and I suppose that if I had to choose between hearing someone swear or that same someone beating their child or doing drugs or some such, I would pick the swear.
So, agonis, Donk, Il Divo, Lady Luminous, Malthier, and I wager several others who's (user)names I am not aware of...
I am sorry for my overzealous response.
I do not retract the content of my statement(s) (i.e. being civil, being nice, not using foul language, etc.), since that would be wrong, but I recognize the flaw(s) in their delivery.
Swearing has never been, and never will be, a good thing. I will not compromise on principle because principles do not change, regardless of how much (or how little) people value them. It's a simple rule of reality; it's not like I created gravity or time, so don't be angry with me.
I hope that at the very least we can see the error in our antagonizing, learn from our mistakes, and remember the good things that brought us here, like Shepard's dancing. (oh, wait, he can't dance...)
What about the Normandy? I think we can all agree the Normandy is an amazing ship!
In any event, here I put my hand out as a handshake of friendship (that sounded much cooler in my head, but there you go).
So, friends?
No. Does someone else post with as much style as you get from my poor English skills fueled by my dyslexia, laziness and auto corrupt powered typing skills.
Or was it my quasi defense of whoever? I always find it off when someone outright attacks someone and that perdon responds in kind how it's the responder who gets the flack. Is it because they hold a differing view so it's okay to be rude to them, mob mentality rules, is it some pecking order thing the initiator is the bully and its against social norms to stand up to them?
I don't mean to be rude but wouldn't that make you an idiot is an attack. The overly verbose response was a retaliatory attack. Why jump on the retaliatory attack and not the initial one? It just felt like piling on the unpopular guy to me.
il Divo's supposed "attack" was an illustration of the faulty reasoning in the post he responded to. He didn't actually imply that another poster was stupid, he pointed out that the "limited language is a sign of stupidity" theory applies to other things besides profanity.
The responding post, in contrast, actually did imply that il Divo needed things "dumbed down" for him, and was just generally pompous.
Edit: But I see there's been an apology (and a good one), so I won't bring it up again.

This is what you are wanting I suspect:

All the swearing gone but most of the violence kept; more importantly the tone and feel ripped straight out until there's nothing left of the original.
Lol that takes me back to that Penny Arcade comic about the GoW toggle.
I doubt it. What I imagine for a Toggle may be what has been described for the Gears of War series.
I'd play GoW with the filter on just to see with what the writers came up with to replace the cussing. If it's just beeped out or something it would be boring as hell ...

IIRC, it's some bleeping (or covering it up with static or other sound effects), and rarely rewritten.
It's also really stupid and pointless, but there you go.

And yet, it seems to remain a requested feature.
Only by you, and maybe a couple of others. The unwashed masses aren't clamoring for it, apparently. It also seems to have been dropped as of the third game. The last few installments haven't had it.
Possibly because it's a pointless feature.
Edit to add that the Penny Arcade comic is spot on. If the context and intent of the curse words remains completely intact... how is that necessarily any different? If you hear the bleep, you're gonna mentally fill in the blank.
I just don't get it.
For me, I only cuss when I'm very very angry. And the people around me know I'm very very angry. Which to me is the whole point of cussing.
For me, someone who cusses a lot, every other word or sentence, I stop listening don't care what the problem is. I don't mind the option to cuss for my character, but I wouldn't want it automatically, in the auto dialogue. Actually don't want very much auto dialogue. Less is better.
