This is case dependent, but it more often makes the offender to appear less mature.

You watch edited Tarantino films?!?!
What circle of the Inferno did you crawl out of?
I have rarely seen any QT films, but caught the edited Kill Bill series on cable TV while at work.

If non-excessive and used to heighten the tension of certain scenes, no issue.
For example in MGSV in Mission 20 at a certain point Kaz yells "get the f(word) out of there", and that word is never used again throughout the rest of the script. That I feel is effective compared to an onslaught of f-bombs every 2 seconds which is what I desperately hope this isn't.

I used to use TV edits in conversation. Called people melon farmers all the damn time. I found it amusing, they just stared at me weird.

Which is totally legit, but not a good reason to impose the same arbitrary restrictions and limitations on everyone else, fictional or otherwise.
C'est la vie.

Used occasionally by certain characters for emphasis. Coming out of a jump and see an enemy armada "insert expletive"
Other times it fits in with the character, Zaeed Massani had the sort of character where you expected him to swear naturally.

Yes, swearing certainly is the most artless way to insult somebody or something.
(Though there are exceptions. There are some who mastered swearing and turned it into an art form...)
y'know mate, you seem to be of two minds about this.
like you said: it depends on the specific example of swearing. just like with all words.

you've never been to a public school high school have you?
<<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>
No.
But high school was also a long time ago. I guess I was brought up in such a way that I feel no need (except when hitting my fingers with a hammer... lol) to use profanity.

Something tells me I've seen this before. This guy is gonna keep bumping the thread for 800 pages with canned, spambot like one liners, in a pitiful attempt to make it look like there are more than about 5 people on the planet who want this "feature" (read: pointless censorship).
Don't engage it and it will naturally die.

Only asking that of those that are fictional and placed in games. As long as it remains a single-player experience, other Players may continue to choose as they wish.

I swear like a truck driver, especially when trying to sneak past clickers and failing ten billion times in a row on Survivor difficulty in TLoU OR when I'm dealing inserting with the most terrible edits in the universe (*glares at two of the authors whose horrendous edits she dealt with the other day*), so I have nothing against characters swearing a lot.
In fact, I've heard Joel and Ellie swear a whole lot at this point. However, I think swearing loses its impact if it's severely overused. I think the characters should swear in tense situations or when highly frustrated or in a fight or even during banter, but they shouldn't do it so often that you get bored and start tuning it/them out.

Foul words really wasn't necessary, especially when a lot of underage kids playing video games. It would be great if there were a setting/option to turn off the profanity, replacing it with gibberish words.
It would be better if a lot of underage kids would play one of the many games that are created for them, I think.
An option like that though? If I were a writer on a game like this, and they wanted to throw a clown filter over the (mild, let's be realistic, it's Bioware) profanity that found its way into the dialogue, I'd be livid.

Right, when the average age of a gamer is now 32 or something.
Right, we need to protect those kids.
