I told you. There will be no toggle. There will be no alternative script without profanity if there is profanity in the script. It would cost too much money, and take away resources that are needed elsewhere. BioWare folks said so several months ago on this forum. You'll have to search for it because I'm not about to. So give up.

If we can't spend a Friday night arguing in circles about trivial nonsense on the BSN, what on earth can we do?

The swearing was inextricable from the few good parts of it, though.

Meh.  I can think of only one scene I really liked that had swearing in it.

No thanks; will hang in there for other Dev's to confirm.

Still would be the worst game of the Shepard Trilogy, but that's for a variety of reasons.

We can agree on that much, at any rate. For a variety of reasons.

Discussing of "realistic" or not "realistic" in a game labeled Mass Effect is like pin pointing the center of the sun with a laser pen.

Nobody cries if a character swears because he's mad like a mad dog, but if he's swearing for the eleventh time in a row because the bartender put a slice of lemon in his coke, that's bad taste.

Well it does clump up when you get it wet. I'd swear more than 11 times for that.

More importantly to the topic at hand, it's safe to assume that a space-faring team of battle-hardened killers/explorers can be realistically expected to swear at some point. AT SOME POINT. Not constantly, for AS I HAVE ALREADY SAID BEFORE, constant swearing would be just as unrealistic as no swearing at all. Even I don't hear action movie levels of constant swearing in real life.

Since we are almost certainly their superior officer, would we get to reprimand them if they do?

Well, those two posts were tongue in cheek. But I'm not sure my favorite characters in ME could necessarily clean up their act and still retain their character. Zaeed a case in point, as always. I don't even think he drops any of those dreaded F bombs, but I'm sure that Elhanan's (just as an example) particular threshold for such content is low enough that he might as well be gone, lest every second mild invective get bleeped.

And even if there was only one scene with cursing in the whole game, I contend that a filter or bleeping would have ruined it.

Well duh.

And thus the entire premise of this entire thread is utterly pointless.

Finally telling off TIM after blowing up the Collector Base:

"I'm sorry, I'm having trouble hearing you.  I'm getting a lot of [cattle fecal matter] on this line"

^^^I may be remembering the wrong person but I thought elhanans point was they prefer no swearing but as long as they can bench the swearing teammates and not swear as a protagonist it was playable.

Okay?

And why should that notion impact what sort of game that Bioware produces?

No more or less than any other minority request. I'm not sure why the request is generating so much hostility though.

Zaeed is almost worse than ME2 Jack in The Citadel DLC, so Yeah - Bomb's away....

Probably due to the hostility.

But plenty of minority requests do get implemented in games. Some might have some social merit behind them though.

Well I see no chance of this one getting implemented because to my knowledge its literally one guy saying it should happen.

o.o and there is no social interlacing message that goes along with inclusion in product either.

Oh I give this as close to a zero chance possible without actually being zero. I'm only in it as I find the thread vaguely funny.

I mean seriously I have a legit request to go into game, but not only is cited as being done in the lore but it would absolutely make my day if they actually came to fruition.

Spoiler

Colony drops *nods*

Or Asteroid, or any object that you can drop from space on a platenoid body resulting in a megaton level detonation.

I'd very much like to do that in a Mass Effect game.

You already do. It's called the Arrival DLC. Well, technically you drop an asteroid into a Mass Relay that causes it to go supernova but same result: utter annihilation of a population.

"Shepard! These finagling Reapers have us pinned! Take out those monkeyfighting husks so we can move forward! Oh snickers Jenson, watch your backside!"

See how idiotic combat banter sounds when you censor it?

Sounds less idiotic than if they swore all those times, so no.
