It would make the dialogue wheel so much easier by just having those four options every time.
I wonder what's the paragon option D:....

Hehehehe.......hehehehehe........HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Did you sign up yesterday or something? What the "rules" say and what they actually allow are very, very different. I don't know if I've personally seen a single topic on this forum that hasn't involved some combination of mocking, insulting and attacking at some point. This place is no more civilized than any other anonymous internet forum.
As a former WoW player, its really not that different, BSN is just in the relatively calm phase in between big announcements and game releases now.
Ehhhh, I'd disagree with that statement, but.. Who knows, you could be right.
Bioware should add in as much or as little profanity as they want. This is one of those things I don't care about, I think I've become desensitized to foul language.
Although I remember on one of the other 'ewww boobs are icky' threads I suggested US and RotW versions.
Maybe that's the answer - we get all the fun stuff and the US can have its sanitised version. There's a precedent for it with the Witcher.
**** no.
It's only a tiny but highly shrill minority of Americans who want that ****.

I'm with Han on this. Please don't do this. If I have to read "Golly gosh dernit!" and "Pussywillows!" and "That's a real humdinger!" I think I'm gonna shoot myself.
EDIT :
Here's the thing about the language toggle - you'd have to do it for every language, not just overly sensitive Americans.
I'd be bloody pissed off if they did a cack job of it.

More people need to embrace the philosophy of Kenichiro Takaki when it comes to T&A.

One thing I've noticed is that the swearing and other bad things have gone down ever since this discussion happened.
I just want to say that we appreciate it.
It's good to know that this place remains civil and a good place to talk about things.
Lets keep that up.
You know what's funny? I self-censored a cuss word in my own post (all but one letter) and got a warning point, but I always see people all over these forums openly cussing without repercussions.

He is a great man ;_;

As has been pointed out, moderator intervention is primarily based on community reporting. Don't let it rile you up. It may be worth noting, at this moment, those who use the sword can also be cut with it.
On topic:
In the game settings, there could be value in a language toggle if it's not too expensive or troublesome to implement in some way. Freedom through restriction. Let people self-censor their media and allow the developers to use as colorful language as they like.
So, being the masochist that I am, I read this thread from start to finish... By turns it amused, infuriated, and baffled me. One of the things you can always count on in a gaming forum (particularly with passionate fans) is lively debate! Though it's usually circular by nature...
To throw my two-penneth into the mix; As someone who's had a range of jobs (from Britmil to office work), I'm fine with swearing (the word cussing cracks me up every time), provided the context is appropriate and in keeping with the character that's swearing. One of my corporals used swearing as an art form for all scenarios (apart from on the radio), whilst an office manager I worked with would get upset if anyone used a sweary within earshot (she once got an air-con contractor banned from the office because his use of the word [faeces] under his breath when nearby upset her).
Plus, I'd prefer if such swearing was natural (so to speak): one thing that always got me in BSG was the use of the word 'frak' by various protagonists. To me that removed all emotional impact from the scene/dialogue because I would laugh every time. In such cases, another sweary would've been more appropriate (especially given as they employed other, 'real life' swearies in other dialogue), or maybe nothing at all. The implied meaning of an alien sweary (e.g. "bosh'tet") is better than words that are close to commonly-known swearies, as it can sound more natural in my opinion (particularly for an officer).

^You read the whole thing? That is some dedication right there.

As everyone else missed it, I'd just like to point out the irony here in that Bioware's filter on this forum missed all 3 English swear words in my response, which was kind of my point..
The fact Jack is one of my favorite characters probably says everything about my thoughts on swearing.
So long as it doesn't turn into Bart Simpson the more swearing the better I say.
Contrary to what you may believe, the world doesn't revolve to suit what you want, Elhanan. So if there is a toggle implemented, count your lucky stars.

Go for it. I thought it was stupid to censor Jack in ME3
