Well as we now know, all non-lethal violence is fine.
Non-lethal runs in Dishonored, Deus Ex: HR and MGS are hella fun.

Oh I'll bet and I've no issue with non-lethal runs.Non-lethal runs in Dishonored, Deus Ex: HR and MGS are hella fun.
Simply because it was on a comedy show doesn't make it not a cruel and uncomfortable story.Considering I believe I heard the story on the Tonight Show w/ Johnny Carson, am good with the humorous ramifications. Perhaps the use of profanity also makes one condescending; a theory in progress....

That's quite a narrow assumption. Perhaps fearing profanity makes one narrow-minded; a theory in progress...
I was just making a joking reference to a past mention in this thread of how awful swearing is but violence is acceptable, and fine as long as they strive for non-lethal methods or not killing innocents.
I knew that.
Oh, my apologies for overexplaining then.I knew that.
Its going to be a mature rated game, if it fits the narrative then I don't see why not.

No need for an apology either you know.

An absurd one, considering that anyone with even the most basic comprehension of probability and statistics knows that correlation does not imply causation.
And even if it did, your own track record when it comes to condescension is so egregious that we would have to turn around and consider that an aversion to profanity is actually a predominant cause of a rude and condescending attitude.

Good for you; I'm certainly not. I think it's a deplorable story. It was received fairly well at the time; am good with it now, too.
Have to admit, I'm curious to hear other stories Elhanan finds humorous.

Good for those people? They can consider it amusing; I certainly don't, nor do I need to.Both parts of the story are told as Urban Legends in some fashion on Snopes, and have been recited for some time.

remind me again how we went from prudes rather ironically saying that swearing makes you condescending to the morality of laughing at an unsubstantiated anecdote
Ha, yeah. Realistically this thread should just be nuked from orbit. It's nothing but a p-- I mean, urinating contest and a circle jerk that has nothing to do with the actual topic any more.
And I'm a guilty party but this is what happens when you close off topic and the Drinkquisition thread. I've been reduced to this. It isn't like I have anything worthwhile or "valued" to contribute to this particular forum -- nor any other for that matter, since I stopped playing those games long ago -- when little to no information is actually given about Andromeda and 90 percent of the people here are the same way. It's just circle jerk morality and political arguments under the guise of ME. May as well join friggin Tumblr.
Such shameless admittance to fecalmatterposting, how appalling.
Still funny.
Swearing has a lot of uses including humor, joy, or even affection so swearing isn't bad, but neither is it crucial and most points can be get acrossed without it. So I guess I stand firmly in the either way catagory I don't mind. If they get across their point without swearing, I am good, get their point across with searing, also good. As long as they get their point across the words don't really matter to me.
It seems like a lot of people want swearing to be banned because it is considered somewhat bad language, which I don't always agree with. Other people seem to want swearing in because it is generally considered banned and they don't like that, which seems an odd motivation for a script.
They should be able to use the word they most want to get across and leave it there.
Yes, i hate it when games obviously "censor" themselves, what sort of audience are you targeting in a game loaded with violence but pg-13 dialogue?
Think you should **** off.
