So I was a tad away from level 20 and thought I could just start a private perilous match and do 1 or 2 zones and be done with it.  One zone after another.. I was at the bolters zone.   So I thought okay I am going to die here.. might as well grab as many pots as I could.  I ran all the way to the end grabbing pots on the way.  In the last room I made my stand.   Somehow I was not taking much damage at all, then I realized that I was facing the corner and my back to everything.   Even though my agent was turned because of auto target facing.. I was holding down the right mouse and pointing myself to the corner.  And I killed the whole zone in that room facing the corner.  And I did the same with Zone 5 dark spawns.   Killed everything except the commander.   That one I actually have to fight...

So to fight bolters, you just show them your back.   [awaiting twerking as intended gif]

And actually it is my first solo perilous. :P  Took like 38 min though...

How to fight bolters. The Bruh way:
1) Find group of bolters
2) Run into said group of bolters
3) Dragon Rage said bolters
4) Find next group
Repeat as necessary

P.S: This way was designed by me and nobody else ever thought of it before me. Nobody else can claim it :P

Did you have Bear Mauls the Wolves?

Yeah that's why.  But you don't really have to not face them.   You just have to keep the initial direction pointing to the wall and now everything is flanking you as long as you hold down the right mouse key.   The left mouse key will turn your character toward the target which is also targeting the closest enemy.   I have about 30 enemies in the same room with about 10 or more bolters.   You can see this mass of red dots but they could do do 1 to 3 damages.

Are you sure this works for other characters. Maybe you didn't take much damage because the Templar w/ full guard is really good at soaking up bolter shots compared to, say, Keeper or Elementalists.

I notice on Ferelden Castle I'm always reviving players like a Saarebas, Elementalist and a rogue. They may be good players but that Bolter portion is hell for them.

Those agents don't have the no flanking passive like bear mauls the wolves though.   Arcane Warrior has it (forgot whatever it was called).

If I was facing that mob... I would be dead in no time even with full guard.   I didn't even hit the shield wall once during the whole thing.   Whatever little guard that I lost, the magehunter shield guard per hit was enough to replenish it.

Worst part of Bolter is, their bullets penetrate walls...

The most epic way is run up the middle, and stop in the open while ignoring the guy that was carrying/teabagging your scrub butt suggestion to use LOS.

I don't mind bolters, I think the army of Dwarven assassin's are worse. They're are what distract ya just enough to get killed by that bolter all the hell in the back that just spawned.

I heard they eat puppies. And when they poop one out, they use another puppy to wipe.

Should have used the music from this:  ;)

Seriously, though, that is an interesting build.  Yesterday I was running Livid, Shield Bash, Blessed Blades, and Horn of Valor.  Was an interesting build that worked pretty well, even up into Nightmare actually.   Used the March shield for extra offense and switched between the bitter axe at higher levels in perilous and that Valos, guard-generating sword in Nightmare.

It is so hard for me to dedicate two skill slots for the combo with my templar.

That is interesting how often I would see all 1's pop-up in your video.  Have to try that sometime.

Virtuoso + little knight music to buff the armor rating of the group.
War cry for 200 armor bonus and facetanking them.
War horn to panic.

AW CL + PotA to put them to sleep.

Rock armor tonic, confusion grenade, etc.

And still, I see ppl running into a group they of bolters they can´t handle and they die, you revive them them and they run in again and die.

Next game, Darkspawn again ... guess what happens :D

It's a sound strategy, bolters can't hurt you in the fade.

You know.... when you know that you have already got enough xp to hit lv 20, and you are playing with 3 PUGs in the fade knowing that you will be soloing zone 5 and you have already reached 250 matches for that agent.... sometime it is less painful to just rush head straight into those bolters.... :)

Happy to see people still stumbling through Bioware's horribly designed mechanics in Inquisition...

Why Origins combat was vastly superior I'll never understand...

If only we could teach the turn around and hide in the corner mechanic to Cassandra
