(SPOILERS) Would it have been cool if Mass Effect 3 had...

ME3 has 7 possible squadmates. But what if we had Major Kirrahe as a salarian squadmate? I definitely would have liked to had that instead of getting a cameo.
Simply have him join Shepard after the Sur'kesh mission.
Also I would've liked if Legion had been made squadmate in Tal's place if she died. Or if you choose the Geth over the Quarians and Talk kills herself, legion would stay alive as a replacement.
Thoughts? Imagine ME3 with Legion and Kirrahe in your squad

Yes to both. I love Kirrahe, he was awesome and a nice example of a Salarian who wasn't a scientist but more of a military man. Legion representing the Geth if you lose Tali is a good idea too.
Btw, you might want to edit the start of your post to say there are spoilers in the thread and not to continue if you've not finished ME3 yet. I only finished it myself a few months back so there are still ppl around who may not know that about Tali. ![]()

I added spoiler warning.
What kind of weapons and powers do you think Kirrahe would have?
I would go for pistols and shotguns.
That way I could equip him with the venom shotgun and the Scorpion pistol.
Alternatively I would do SMGs and Shotguns.
I would give him combat/tech powers.
Cryo Ammo
Arc Grenade
Neural Shock
Cryo Blast
What about you?

I would have Legion use Assault Rifles and Sniper Rifles
His powers would be
Energy Drain
Sabotage
Homing Grenade (or Cluster Grenade)
Combat Drone

Now you got me. I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable about abilities as I should be and can never remember what any of them are called. ![]()
As a Salarian Kirrahe wouldn't be as aggressive on the battlefield as a human or krogan. I'd think he'd be more sly, running around the edges, taking a chance when he saw it and sneaking up on his enemies, being lethal given the chance. Pistols definitely, and I can see him with a shotgun. His skills would be more tactical than physical, as he'd know he's outdone physically by the other races so he'd make up with it with his intelligence.
As for Legion he'd just stay the same as he was in ME2, no? Seeing him sniping husks to save you when you get the IFF is iconic so I'd want to keep the sniper rifle. And without Tali his combat drone is a must.

Kirrahe is soldier so I'd have him tactical and offensive at the same time. He's not like Mordin Solid was, because Kirrahe is a soldier. So id design him to be more leaning towards tech oriented combat.
Basically I would design him to be less fragile than Liara, but packs more of a punch than Tali or EDI.
As for Legion, I'm with you 100%.
As an aside, would you have taken Okeer as a Squadmate in ME2 as an alternative to Grunt? Just a thought

Yeah, that sounds about right.
As for Okeer, god no. Couldn't stand him, I'd much rather have Grunt on board. He at least was a slightly different kind of Krogan and a refreshing change.
Okeer's science is interesting and a krogan teammate with more refined abilities is a nice idea, but I wouldn't want to have him hanging around the Normandy tbh.

What do you think was why Kirrahe was not a Squadmate?

I guess because he can, and very often does, die in ME1.

It is soooo easy to keep him alive

Once you know how. I completely missed it my first time round and didn't even know he could survive.
If a character is killable then there's no point in making them a squadmate. Once someone can die they lose all potential in the future to do anything important if they do survive. And if they do do something important then there'll be a safety net of another character doing it instead just in case they are dead.
They lose all power to be significant sadly. I think Bioware kill off too many interesting characters....

They prove the point sadly. I haven't killed either personally as I've only done ME3 once so far, but I know what happens if they die.
So, spoilers for ME3. If Garrus dies there's no difference. You get a couple of mentions and that's it, he doesn't have any impact at all on the story. That breaks my heart cause I love him, so I'll never kill him. That way I don't have to face the fact that he's really not important to the story.
As for Tali, if she's dead she's simply replaced by Admiral Xen. All the same stuff happens only slightly differently.
Now if Tali and Garrus couldn't die in the suicide mission, then they both could have had vital roles in ME3 contributing to the fall of the Reapers. I would have much preferred that as I think they're very important characters. I would have done the same with Mordin and Miranda too.

Oops, forgot to say that Garrus and Tali can of course be squad mates, I guess they put the time into them because they knew that most playthroughs would have them alive and well for ME3. But they, unlike Kirrahe, had 2 games of history with the player so we are all much more invested in them.
