Have you ever wondered what would be like to combine a stealth fighter with and indestructible tank? I don't know if anyone ever done this build before, probably yes, yet is still worth mentioning.

This build combines the durability of the Knight-Enchanter with the stealth properties of the Ring of Doubt and the aggro, guard and cooldown happiness of Andraste's Sacrifice. It basically turns the mage into a one-man party that can solo the game and fill every role in it besides picking locks and breaking walls.

Recommended order of abilities:

01- Barrier**

02- Immolate

03- Flashpoint

04- Pyromancer

05- Fire Mine**

06- Flaming Array

07- Chaotic Focus

08- Clean Burn

09- Energy Barrage**

10- Fade Step*

11- Spirit Blade*

12- Combat Clarity

13- Fade Shield

14- Amplified Blade

15- Frost Step

16- Fade Cloak**

17- Decloaking Blast

18- Lightning Bolt

19- Gathering Storm

20- Static Charge

21- Peaceful Aura

22- Dispel*

23- Transmute Magic

24- Rejuvenating Barrier

25- Conductive Current

26- Veiled Riposte

27- Knight-Protector

* Abilities that should be mapped.

** Abilities that should be mapped and preferred.

Abilities that should be disabled.

This is the core of the build wheter you use it on Vivienne or the Inquisitior, with the RoD to give free criticals and make you invisible whenever you get knocked down it will get you through pretty much anything on Nightmare by AI except for Sha-Brytol Bolters and Hakkonite Assassins but those two are cheating bastards.

Unless you are in for solo play, Andraste's Sacrifice is important though. Even if the guard granted is insignificant, the ability to taunt enemies is pivotal for turning the KE into the party tank instead of an avenging bruiser carrying dead people and spent potions.

Also, try having a staff that deals lightining damage since it's the only kind of element you lack a mapped spell with.

Additionally the following complementary builds are dependant on which character you are playing as and wheter you acquired amulets of power or not:

Vivienne:

XV- Resurgence*

XXIX- Guardian Spirit

XXX- Revival

* Focus ability comes before 15, must be mapped and takes advantage that Vivienne is a human with another ability point.

Extra abilities post core-build if you managed to obtain amulets of power.

Inquisitor:

FA- Mark of the Rift*

XXVIII- Guardian Spirit

XIX- Mind Blast

XXX- Strength of Spirits

XXXI- Energy Bombardment

XXXII- Energetic Defence

* Free focus ability that should be mapped.

Extra abilities post core-build if you managed to obtain amulets of power.

Extra ability post core-build that should be taken only by the human Inquisitor.

OPTIONAL: WANNA BE A REAL MARY SUE?

Despite the build being ridiculously though at base and close to cheating by adding stealth, you can go up to eleven by crafting a high damage staff with Fade-Touched Plush Fustian Velvet (5 hits of Hidden Blades) and an armor with Fade-Touched Dawnstone/Everite (5 seconds of Walking Fortress).

A single energy barrage has a significant chance of triggering Hidden Blades and both have a significant chance of triggering Walking Fortress, not just that but thanks to Static Charge it also cuts your cooldowns of Spirit Blade, Fade Cloak and Fade Step to almost 0.

Also, equip the Sigil of Lyrium and have your Barrier go over 8000.

HAVE FUN!

From what I understand, stealth clears your aggro, so I don't typically give KE RoD. Fire pact + fire mines + fade shield is as OP as a mage would ever get.

I don't see the need for RoD on KE besides the free crit. If you get knocked down, that's exactly what fade cloak is for. I can see the benefit of stacking crit damage and ignore crit chance, but personally I would prefer a front line constant damage dealer + a reliable tank.

If I want a high burst damage class, I would just go with RoD necro. But as of KE, my impression goes that she should be a dps class as opposed to a burst damage class.

RoD is the most broken item on the game, whichever mage class puts it on is basically invincible but the KE has the benefit of moving into the fray instead of running from it.

This build is meant for fun and easy soloing on nightmare since it can stack up stealth, guard, huge barrier, Walking Fortress and Hidden Blades.

I understand that there are more well balanced builds for soloing the game but this one is a huge mary sue without any tactical thinking required.

I also found out that having more than 5500 barrier is troublesome because decay becomes hard to control at 8000 and downright impossible at over 10000.
