Illgetimus,You're not listening.. Riordan is talking to Loghain and the PC.. Loghain is new to the  GWs and knows nothing about why the GWs are needed to kill the AD or else he would not have wanted the last two wardens in Ferelden dead. Even in the Landsmeet he showed his ignorance when he ask if the wardens are even needed to stop the blight.

 

BTW.. If you loose the Landsmeet he orders that your warden,Alistair and Eamon be taken outside to await execution so,we see again he has no real clue on how to stop the blight.

Cause the devs were insistent on the DR being a tempting decision for almost everyone no matter how little sense it made.

I'm quite unsure about it actually.

The DR didn't make much sense because was simply a later addiction that wasn't supposed to be part of the DAO plot.

The way to kill the archdemon was originally intended to be a Grey warden artifact,a sword if i'm not mistaken.

They changed the plot along the development process thus caused Riordan and Duncan apparent illogical behaviour
