Not that I'm condoning pvp in ME:AMP. It'd be a ßitch to balance.

Forgive me, I should've said "trying to make Mass Effect style gameplay compatible with PvP would be like trying to teach a fish how to walk, run, climb a ladder, do a standing long jump and make me a sandwich before they die from a lack of water".

This board, I swear......

Everytime I skim the topic titles and go over this I read "we want butter..." and I do a double-take.

Personally I have only one hope regarding MP. That it DOESN'T affect SP again  !!!

I may try it, but if it's as... technologically challanged as it was in ME3 or DAI, I'll pass, with no regrets. What really irked me though was having my playthrough dependent on MP. No. Just no.

MEMP: The most addictive part of ME3.

If MEA's multiplayer is as good as ME3's (with any further updates BW bring),

then we are in for a good time.

I personally have no interest in PvP.

Battlefront with Krogan?

No thank you.

BioWare games are known for their impressive single-player experience:

 - Interesting companions

 - a good morality system, with some plausible "grey-n-gray" mixed in

 - Engaging story

 - Excellent lore

 - Effective, balanced classes

 - No two playthroughs are the same between players

So if by multiplayer, you mean the sharing of different playthroughs, playstyles, and experiences on this forum, then I think we're covered.

But if you mean a game mode in the game that takes development time away from the single-player experience, then you are sadly mistaken.

If you want a multiplayer game, then find a multiplayer game like the ones you mentioned.  We don't need another BioWare game to suffer the dreaded "multiplayer add-on".

Again, this myth raises its ugly head. Single player team and multiplayer team are separate teams and separate budgets. Multiplayer does NOT take away from single player's team or budget.

Here is an entire explanation by an actual game dev: http://askagamedev.t...ayer-takes-away

Pertinent take-away:

"The important thing to realize here is that there is no situation where the single player game will get the additional resources that would have gone to the development of the multiplayer components unless revenue forecasts can somehow support that the additional resources spent will result in additional revenue. The single player game is estimated from the get go to require a certain budget. There might be stretch goals for the single player, but the multiplayer budget is actually an entirely separate bid. Because it’s a separate bid, even if you cut that feature, you wouldn’t get to reallocate the resources that would have been allocated for it. You just wouldn’t get them at all."

I think worse than that is saving content and only putting it on specific platforms, but never tell anyone other than we are commited and are going to support the games.

I think when they hold back DLC and MP content to put it on PS5 years from now and never let people on current gen consoles play will be a trip, but many around here are fine with that.  They had no issue when it was done with DAI so this will be more of the same.

If you want CoD multiplayer go play CoD. There is nothing wrong with the current ME multiplayer, its fun, you can play with your friend on various difficulties. I enjoy it and i don't think it needs changing.

Here's a crazy idea: TEXT CHAT. YES, AS IN THE ABILITY TO TALK TO OTHER PLAYERS BY TYPING MESSAGES THAT APPEAR ON SCREEN, RATHER THAN BY SPEAKING THROUGH A MICROPHONE.

Lord knows I've waited long enough for it. I was advocating for text chat back when ME3 first came out.

To bad for you then that they haven't released a single SP game with those features since 2009.

They have though managed to create one of the best gaming experiences of all time - ME3 multiplayer.

"Impressive single player experiences" is a thing of the past for BW, MP is the new SP for them (well DAMP sucked big time but let's ignore that).

Anyway you look at the Mass Effect Trilogy, you are speechless... Great graphics (for their time), great plot, great physics... But there was one thing that bugged me a lot... The multiplayer... The CO-OP multiplayer wont cut it anymore BIOWARE...
I'm a huge fan of shooter games (whether FPS or TPS), especially CoD, and I must say that Mass Effect is nowhere near their multiplayer experience... I mean, just teaming up with random guys and fighting waves of enemies will not attract players anymore...
I mean, just look at how great multiplayer games like Titanfall, Halo 5, Black Ops III and others have... The game can keep the CO-OP mode but please grant us this wish...

I want no multiplayer at all.

That is your opinion not mine. I actually think their overall singleplayer modes have gotten much better since 2009 I think that the fanbase has gotten worse mostly because they think so damn entitled to sicking degree. I also think ME3 and DA:I would been much better without MP sucking up resources.

How about text chat for single player? No more dialogue wheel. You can respond to Ashley's racist rants anyway you want.

If you're on PC you can get Text Chat already.

First two things before turning into gif cat monster:

1) Mass Effect is not shooter game, it is ARPG game!

2) Mass Effect is not multiplayer game, it is singleplayer game meaning multiplayer is just optional additional content but not priority!

Now as for your "good examples" of how to do "good mp" game like:

Generalizing, sure I would be in favor of better multiplayer than ME3.  There are ways to improve.

PVP works better with pure shooters than a mixed rpg like ME3.  Although it would be somewhat amusing to see some players' reactions upon getting floated in a singularity.

I'm actually worried the multiplayer won't be as good as the mp we have right now. I mean, DAI:MP does not seem nearly as popular as ME3MP.

I don't think Dragon Age's combat lends itself well to multiplayer in the first place. When I first fired it up, it was basically what I expected, which was a pretty so-so experience and combat that isn't really anything special outside of any meaningful context, which I consider to be the case for all DA games. I think ME:A will do much better on this front.

Yes there is something with shooting the heads of Aliens that makes mp so successful. Just look at Destiny, it lacks everything but yet its best aspect is probably what keeps it successful and thats shooting heads of Aliens.

Don't forget the stagger effect, or getting hit by a biotic charge and nova. Though, we actually can get a taste of the last one as Shepard can fight a clone of identical class. Even then though, the clone never uses charge to directly assault its target.

Heh, yeah. I talk crap about Destiny, yet here I am, still using my beloved Thousand Yard Stare to snipe fellow guardians, collecting strange coins and popping three of coins in hopes that these ultra-mooks will drop an exotic engram. Gun collecting in that game is actually kind of fun.
