I had to play ME1 on easy after I started on hard or normal. Thought game is just extremly hard but my save bugged and it never switched to easy. On my second run I had easy and it was... easy. But ME2 and ME3 I completed on normal. I'm not sure why I've never picked hard. I'm just not used to. Perhaps I will try before MEA relase or I will only play MEA on hard.

If I go back and play it again it will be on easy or normal. Insanity and hardcore is just a pain with enemies popping immunity. Nothing like shooting a rag dolled enemy for 3 minutes straight to take the joy out of a game.

In order to get the best experience the first time through, usually normal. Then second playthrough will be a difficulty above. Then third playthrough (if I make it past the first and 2nd playthrough) will be for achievement hunting. Then 4th will be to beat the game on the highest setting.  Only game I've played more than 4 times is Mass Effect 1-3.

Depends on the game, when i start a new trilogy playthrough i play mass Effect on the easiest because i simply want to get through it as soon as possible because i don't enjoy the graphics.
When it comes to Mass Effect 2 i usually play on the normal or hard difficulty the same can be said for ME3.

Multiplayer i usually play on Silver or Gold except if it is a new character then i play on Bronze.

I think the difficulty is fine as it is, there is no need for change.

I agree although presonally I don't mind ME1's graphics as some of it was quite good i liked the snowy landscapes and Virmire was quite pretty  for a beach. Difficulty wise I agree though i don't think there needs to be much change although I suppose if they wanted to create nwe challenges they could go down the DAI route and introduce trials for those that want them.

I mostly had problem with bugging in textures. I remember fighting one krogan in round place. It was so hard on my stuck-with-hard-pt. After 4 hours I've cried with joy when I thought I've finished room because I've been stuck in ground and unable to move. Then I cried out of despair because enemy was also stuck in ground but wall prevented me from killing him and companions were dead. I've spent about 1 hour trying to kill him as a biotic. 10/10, never again. BUT I DID IT.

I was a relative latecomer to the ME trilogy, starting to play ME1 after the release of ME3, but before the release of the last two DLCs. They are perhaps the games that I've replayed the most from my library. I finished ME3 in insanity with a caveat, as infiltrator I used a lot of "tricks" (strategies?) to complete the game. Possibly I wouldn't have completed the game at that level based solely on "skill". For example (warning: open spoilers!)

1) In the last battle against the Brutes in Priority:Tuchanka I didn't kill all of them between the insertion point and the bells (Maw hammers) to call Kalros. I just stealthed and ran toward the bells calling the maw and completing the mission.

2) In Priority: Eden Prime waiting for the pod to activate I didn't hunkered where the pod was, I ran and climbed to the roof close by and sniped all the Cerberus troops from afar.

3) Grissom Academy: I didn't walk directly into the courtyard after the encounter with Jack. I remained inside the building taunting the Cerberus' troops to come for me so I could dispatch the bulk of them one by one.

In general, I used a specific strategy for each mission that put me in an advantageous situation, not needing that much "raw" skill to complete it.

Yeah the physics effects sometimes knocked enemies into walls and then you had to hope your biotics would eventually kill them.  Its why I save often so I can just reload.

I want options.  I always start out games on casual.  I may go to normal.  Once in a blue moon I'll do the harder options but I'm playing these games because they are fun for me and I'm not interested in wanting to throw something at the tv because I've spent way too long  trying to kill something, like the Dragon Age Arishok fight, which really worked well with the old Benny Hill music.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Played ME 3 on Insanity and was really nice.

A few weeks ago finished Fallout 4 on Survival or something from the get go and that was challenging and refresing.

Maybe I'll play ME: andromeda on insanity again.

Normal. Just enough to enjoy the narrative and have some challenge, especially since ME3/DAI spiked up the normal difficulty.

Wait, you're saying we're supposed to kill the brutes?

I prefer play on the easiest setting. In fact, DAI was the only game I've ever done the harder difficulties. I hope MEA won't be as easy.

Dunno, point is that if you simply stealth and run you complete the quest. The skill required for it is the same regardless of you playing the game in Story or Insanity difficulties, and a similar argument is applicable for the remainder examples of my post.

ME3 Insanity got easier as time went on.  You expect DLC guns and gear to be a contributing factor (and they were), but changes via patches also contributed.

That said, it matters if you start from Level 1 or play NG+.  In comparison to MP, the enemies in MP have more HP, but your MP characters can also have double to triple the shields of Shepard.

As far as MEA is concerned, it should be harder than ME3, but I would prefer that this be accomplished with more enemies at once, and more special abilities for mid tier and higher units.  Special abilities should also not be limited to "LOL I don't take damage now."

Only as an adept. The rest of the sissie classes can run without shame though.

So was I I didn't get into the ME trilogy until just before ME3 came out really. But it's definitely my favourite game series to play though right now.
