the aiming in ME1 was garbage, i much preferred aiming in 2 and 3, especially as a sniper

Bioware only models characters as much as they have to. That results in some hilarity for people who enable fly cam for the romance scenes. Male Shep and Kaiden are Ken dolls, Fem Shep and Liara don't have nipples, ect.

Saw this watching a fly/free/whatevs cam in DAI Dorian sex scene with male inq... I will be forever traumatized by the ken doll syndrome... I now suffer from "no dick on my virtual beau trauma". I will forward my therapy bills to Bioware.

As a side note, I'm not sure which would have been worse... the ken doll monstrousity or a minuscule shrivelled penis (apparently if you make it small and weird it doesn't offend peope... or so some "art" would have you think)... I find both versions to be abhorrent, just make a damn normal looking penis, I promise you the world will still spin after people see it... (though I do understand the business point of view of only making stuff if it's visible)...

I tend to look for the things that I reaaly did like about Mass Effect and the things that I hope are somehow built on. Simply more fun to remember that I really liked the game enough to care

ME1. Not much really struck me with the game that isn't a necessary feature in ME:A. The wonder of a new galaxy to explore and all that sort of stuff. Also, it was more baby steps in a franchise and dated now.

ME2. Save the epic stuff, I want the soap opera elements that tie me to the characters in ways that Bioware excelled at in ME2. No streamlining on the dialogue options this time please, that mechanic worked for me a treat

ME3 The humour that was more of a feature in ME3. More between mission interaction in different areas of the ship that show the crew etc having some form of life, not simply place holders.

Citadel DLC, yeah cheezy at parts and fan servicing all through, but that had all the essential elements of Mass Effect magic that made me forget all the other stuff that had built up in me

Actually, that's the way that all animators draw their stuff.  Why put time into something that the player will (or should) never see?

Well...

-auto dialogue (no...just...no)
-ME3/DAI fetch and click side quests
-lack of romance equality (M!Shep didn't get same sex romance till ME3...F!Shep got shafted big time unless she romanced Kaidan and/or Liara where as M!Shep had his pick...either go playersexual and give an equal gender amount or ensure that m/f, f/f and m/m each get the same amount)
-Garrus/Tali romance able by fan demand (sorry Garrus/Talimancers)
-Forced heroic role/persona, esp since in the first two games Shepard could be pretty bad
-Special snowflake titles and achievements. Shepard first human to do this, that and the other thing...
-Needing multiplayer to achieve a certain ending in ME3 (never ever meld single and multiplayer. Let them be separate)
-Shepard being able to be a biotic or tech yet somehow can never use those abilities in cutscenes
-Forced dating/attraction (Asari Consort, Morinth, Shiala)...I don't mind it being optional but don't imply the PC is down with it

you didn't NEED multiplayer to get a different ending.  Especially after the extended cut lowered the minimum EMS to 3100.

The highest ems that can be reached is about 2970 if the player has no save import, didn't play the dlc's and didn't play multiplayer to raise his/her galactic readiness. Saving Anderson will give the player an extra 200 war assets to get the breath scene

Who cares about all those minor oversights when my face mask is literally my actual face.

Humans are Special: The single worst trope in all of Science Fiction, and one that was not only present in every game but seemed to get turned up a notch with each chapter. Stop it, Mac.

Exposed skin / lack of helmets for hostile enviroments. That one was mostly limited to ME2, but there were a couple characters in ME3 that didn't have helmets.

Fetch quests.

Fetch quests obtained by eavesdropping.

Lack of cinematic conversations with NPCs. (More of a problem with DA:I than ME games, but there were a few instances of it in ME2 and ME3)

Characters in the Citadel DLC too often seeming more like cartoonish caricatures of themselves than believable people in the game universe. I loved the Citadel DLC overall, but thought the humor could have been be toned down a few notches. An entire game of that would feel like Tumblr Fanfic Comic: The Game. No thanks!

Content that breaks the fourth wall. No more NPCs discussing multiplayer, please.

To be honest i thought SOME of the ME3 fetch quests were very well thought out. Far too often you get fetch quests as the "super important" unique character trope and player are like couldn't I command that guard over there to do this? But in Me3 you would hear about some iconic symbol of an alien race lost behind reaper lines. Which makes sense why Shepard has to be the one to get it but these people understand priorities and are not asking the galaxy's saviour to run and fetch this in between saving us all. The problem was over use.

Most game appear to create similar content in large bunches and so things get over used. The radiant quests in FO4 are another example. It is a great idea to have a settler give you a quest but because they happen so frequently they go from engaging content to a pain in the ass very quickly but it they triggered only once every in game month there would lose all their annoyance to them because they wouldn't repeat locations as they don't trigger enough. They would trigger so rarely that their annoyance factor would be removed.

Fetch quests need to be reasonable and they need to be used sparing but they shouldn't be removed entirely. I can see sending a pathfinder to fetch something that a colony hears about through alien traders. This thing isn't something any normal schmoe can do so getting someone who's job it is to explore alien worlds makes sense, vs. 'Mr. Inquisitor could you please find my goat?'

The key (at least for me) is to make it plausible that I should be the one someone asks to fetch something and not to use the same reasoning or method over and over and over again. The amount of fetch quests in witcher 3 is staggering but they are presented in a multitude of different ways to give the illusion of not actually doing a fetch quest.

Personally, I would have said the Mako, but...

The way the conversations became less and less personal/cinematic. I hate how 80% in convos you just click and have a convo that doesn't change the camera or present any sort of dialogue option. DAI's system was awful as well. Bring back cinematic convos please!

I wish people would stop referring to these conversations as "cinematic". They're not. The ACTUAL cinematic conversations never went away. All that we lost were the dumb shot-reverse-shot camera angles that had no custom animation or facial expressions. Big effing deal. We even still have choices in these conversations (in ME3 you indicated who you sided with in a conversation, in DAI you had a fully blown conversation wheel.)

I thought ME1 and ME2 was devoid of personal interaction unless you romance someone. Hell, in ME2, my Shepard barely move her face while talking to her crew and then she would have this weird sneer/pout that freak me out. My ME1/2 have a resting b1tch face syndrome.... but she did have small facial expressions which I like. Genuine sadness, genuine happiness with slight muscle movements.

in ME1, the option for your team to enclose around you. I would always hit that button by accident and then whenever I would try to hit the door button it would start a conversation with the team. I would have to hear Tali say "you lead, I'll follow" like 3 times before I could figure out a way to get her to move.

The persistent reticle on squad mates when talking with them in non-cinematic conversations in ME3. It was immersion breaking because it reminded me they weren't real, just objects to be clicked. I preferred the ME2 version where the reticle disappeared until further clicking could happen.
