Okay, I have another one.
- Female main characters having more female partners than male partners because straight male FPS players can't stand watching their main female character receiving the attention of another man in the game.

Huh? This hasn't been true in of the ME games.
Corridors. Endless corridors. Being herded like cattle from point A to point B. Linearity.
Eh....now that I think about it, this isn't a small thing. It's an immersion-breaking elephant in the room.
Huh? This hasn't been true in of the ME games.
In ME3 if Kaidan was dead and the player didn't import a romance with Thane or Garrus from ME2 FemShep's only romance options were Traynor and Liara IIRC.

But by same logic, if you imported dead Ash, the only female romance opton for mShep is Liara compared to the two same gender romance options for mShep?
Huh? This hasn't been true in of the ME games.
Really? I present thee FemShep's romantic fate...
Female : Liara (romance), Kelly Chambers (flirt/stripper dance/savior of the fishes), Diana Allers (flirt/kiss), Traynor (romance), Samara (kiss in DLC), Morinth (death by sex), Sha'ira (sex as reward) and Aria (kiss in DLC). This also doesn't count camera panning on Miranda's chest and rear all the time.
But only Traynor's romance was exclusively a lesbian romance.
Male : Kaidan (romance/breakup), Garrus (romanceable only in ME2), Thane (romanceable only in ME2/plotline death), Jacob (romanceable only in ME2/leave you because he got someone pregnant), Javik (wild party sex in DLC), James (flirt/sex only in DLC)
And if you kill Kaidan, don't romance anyone in ME2, you're left with DLC flings.
But by same logic, if you imported dead Ash, the only female romance opton for mShep is Liara compared to the two same gender romance options for mShep?
MShep still have Allers and Liara along with Kaidan and Cortez.

The previous poster is disappointed in the options for FemShep, since there was the possibility of NO hetero romance at all in ME3. I don't think they were comparing to what Sheploo got.
You can have a human protagonist without falling into the Humans Are Special trope. It is only when the writers try to portray the humans as being smarter, more adaptable, more inherently noble, ect than every other form of sapient life, that the story feels more like an egocentric circle jerk than one simply being told from a human perspective.
The alternative being to portray them as inferior on all counts? ME1 goes the farthest in showing humans as actually special - as in smarter, more inherently capable, etc. ME2's gibberish "genetic diversity" point is a different kind of special, but all it amounts to is the same kind of humans are special trope as "BG5" which was that humans were more culturally diverse than aliens. And despite ME3's nonsense about saving Earth, humanity was pretty much useless the entire game, apart from a large part of them actively helping the reapers.

I didn't really catch all that "humans are special" in ME1. More like "humans are stubborn and impatient". No human has shown a real brainpower (Shepard was everything but smart). Every smart idea was rather brought by teammates or other NPCs (salarian mostly). Inherently capable - just Shepard... because players need to feel special, right? But can you remember any other human superior in any way? I can't. Now that you say that humans didn't help at all in ME3 but aiding Reapers in the form of Cerberus...you're actually right. We haven't seen humans helping out fighting Cerberus (at least) in any other world but human (if you don't count multiplayer)...like what the hell. It didn't even feel like an alliance of species fighting united but aliens saving humanity at cost of their own worlds. I wonder how did Shepard manage that. They could've just go "Nope, you humans are on your own, we're tired of you not helping at all" and who knows, maybe they would've succeeded.
Hmm...
Mako/Hammerhead - Boring, tacked on, actually seemed to slow down the pacing despite being a friggin vehicle. I was so glad they didn't try to shoehorn in a vehicle section in ME3. I'm hoping beyond hope that they don't screw up the Mako this time.
Crappy character creation - I started this series on ME2 and let me tell you, I'll never forget the drudgery I went through trying to make my Sentinel look right. Limited, fixed angles that you'll almost never see in the actual game? Check. Irritating little "scanning" effect that interrupts you every few seconds and breaks your focus? Check. Fixed lighting that you will almost never see in the actual game? Check. Have to restart the entire game and go through the unskippable TIM, Normandy destruction, ME1 comic AND Lazarus sequences just to have another attempt? Check. You may as well do the ME2 character creation blindfolded, because it doesn't give you the slightest idea of what your character will actually look like.
Crap sidequests - ME1 was bad enough with the repetitive level design and Mako sections, but then ME3 came along and turned you into a creepy eavesdropper whose idea of a "sidequest" was to go to a random spot on the map and press X. I'm sorry BioWare, but if it's so uninteresting that I don't even have to leave my cozy chair on the ship then it's no "sidequest" at all.
Lack of party banter - One thing I always hated about the squadmates in ME2 was how they seemed almost oblivious to each other. When Garrus was giving a heartfelt speech at Thane's memorial all I could think was "Um, Garrus? You literally never spoke to him once.". One thing I loved about ME3 is how your squadmates would actually travel around the ship and interact with each other.
Loads of party members that can apparently only exist two at a time - Zaeed's loyalty mission is a great example of this. Why on Earth do I have to pick between saving innocent workers and helping Zaeed get revenge when I've got TEN friggin guys in reserve just twiddling their thumbs? What are they even doing? For that matter, somebody please explain to me how Vido only escapes if you save the workers despite that route taking less than half the time of the other route.

Except this wasn't the case at all in ME. Humanity was leading the cruicble project which is the only way to stop the reaper's and everyone else was focused on saving their own skin while the alliance were the only ones doing something to stop the reaper's.
The alternative being to portray them as inferior on all counts?
Avoiding a repeat of the Humans Are Special trope in ME:A doesn't necessarily mean that the writers need to pivot all the way to the opposite end. Ideally they'd be portrayed as neither inherently superior or inherently inferior.
Nope to...
ME1:
Inventory system
Armour/Mods upgrade system
Weapon effectiveness reduction from being the "wrong" class
Mako handling - I liked the exploration idea, not the execution.
Biotic stagger powers from enemies - watching your character fall to the floor when hit with a Singularity and slowly haul him/herself up only to be killed in the process is not fun
Overuse of recycled assets
Repetitive side-quests; "caves" where you get Zerged by Husks or derelict spacecraft in which you get Zerged by Husks... and so on; the exceptions being the Crime Syndicate, Moon-base AI and Cerberus missions as they had a little more depth.
ME2:
Class-based weapons restrictions (until the Reaper ship IIRC)
Cheesy "weak point" boss fights
Thermal clips - the weapons cooling system was fairly unique in ME1; TCs don't bother me that much but it feels like a shame to move to a generic "guns must have ammo" system
Planet scanning
Galaxy navigation
ME3:
Again with the rubbish boss fights - especially that Reaper on Rannoch.
Still thermal clips
Galaxy navigation and Reaper alertness
Every ME game:
The omni-button of wall-grabbing death

I'm playing right now and that has happened to me SO much in the last few days, it's frustrating how long it takes you out of play for. ![]()
I think I'm the only person who likes thermal clips, I'll take them over over-heating any day.

It would be cool if there was any use in them. I mean, they're thermal clips, they should collect heat and IF the weapon overheats, you throw it off. Like Conrad Verner in ME3 said: "Well that sounds like a major step backward". I mean, if there were less thermal clips (like 3-7) BUT if you could just wait for your weapon to cool down instead of switching to another clip then it would be the best of both worlds. Like ME1 style or out of clips? Just watch your weapon heat and fire indefinitely. Like old shooters style more or too impatient to wait for your weapon to cool down? Then use thermal clips like ammo. That's the way it should've been in both ME2 and 3.
The highest ems that can be reached is about 2970 if the player has no save import, didn't play the dlc's and didn't play multiplayer to raise his/her galactic readiness. Saving Anderson will give the player an extra 200 war assets to get the breath scene
"Saving" Anderson, right?
So if people don't wan't to play multiplayer, then they could buy the DLC, play that Galaxy at War internet mini-game (used to be an app), import data files from the Mass Effect: Infiltrator mobile game or (at least one) the previous games.
I can't find the quote now, since it's been lost in the internet sea of more relevant news, but I remember BioWare (maybe Casey) saying that long time fans of the series would get something special as a reward. Having seen the breath scene, I assumed that's what they meant.
"Saving" Anderson, right?
Meaning if TIM doesn't shoot Anderson. If TIM shoots Anderson, the player will lose 100 war assets

I know. And I know that you know.
Even reading this page (I logged because I wanted to comment something but realised I misunderstood that... so eh, might as well comment on this instead) one thing comes to mind.
One thing I hope I don't see in MEA is a companion with a name so fkn complex that it shatters smaller minds, who are incapable of comprehending or retaining it. How evil is that? Think of the hurt minds Bioware!!!
I'm talking about KAIDAN of course. Bioware really did a horrible mistake here. I mean seriously who came up with this bizarre and surreal name, more akin to advanced mathematics than anything else...
So please Bioware, keep your names simple and to the lowest common denominator, so EVERYONE can remember and use them properly. I suggest things like Bob. Jim. Earl. JJ.
Hmm... that's already getting too difficult... maybe just keep the companions names limited to letters? Companion C. It has a nice ring to it. Warm and fuzzy.
And well... if that is still too much for some (I suggest doing some research on the matter), have companions named with simple numbers. Companion 4. Easy and accessible. While at the same time, rich and fascinating from a lore and storytelling point of view.

Not every name should be in English, you know. Humanity consists of many cultures even after it was united in ME universe. I doubt humanity developed some common culture and names for themselves despite everyone speaking English.
Initially, I thought Kaidan was half Japanese (怪談) and people are misspelling his name with the Irish's Caeden. He was born in Singapore so I can reason out that he is part Asian. Then someone pointed out his last name is Slavic. So.... a Singaporean by birth, Ukrainian-descent and raised as a Canadian with Irish-sounding name... ... diversity!

Let's keep it light and breezy lol.
It doesn't matter what the name is, or what's its origin... it matters that some people keep spelling it "Kaiden"... It's a simple task of LOOKING and COPYING. People failing that are just ridiculous.
Honestly.... default BroShep running through dangerous situations only to come out emerged victorious. He raised his face, light touched his sculpted face, his soulful eyes in the distance, his dark tan skin glistening under the sun, his thick luscious lips curved into a Blue Steel........... he's a Commander...who is also the person Zoolander was based on.
Sometimes I wished I hadn't watch that movie before I play this game.
