Human male & female body types being excessively gendered in a way that did only "favors" for the males. The women are often depicted as far too skinny outside of their armor while the males could sometimes be way too huge both in casual wear and armor. ME3 strangely was the standout culprit despite its story and characters' concerns being the least sexist of the series.

While I agree about the female body types being a bit too thin (but only in the arms), I didn't think any of the male characters were designed as too huge. Male Shep and the characters who shared the same body model certainly weren't.

The only male character who was designed as having a large build was Vega, and he wasn't unrealistically so. When I think male characters with ridiculously oversized proportions I think Gears of War. Nothing in Mass Effect was that bad.

Especially if you consider both the in-universe information and the fact that a lot of special forces guys are not exactly small in real life.

In universe information that is completely freely available is that ALL alliance soldiers get genetic modifications when they join. The probability is that in addition to all kinds of immunity boosting mods you would also get mods for faster healing and probably better muscle mass retention.

My main gruff with everyone have the same body type was that they make body mesh fit with casuals rather than casuals fitting on body mesh. So everyone look the same if they wear the same thing. Which meant, muscular BroShepard will look like a twig if he wore the science outfit and Joker is too muscular for someone who claimed his bones will snap easily if he make wrong moves.

Then again, FemShep tend to have weird height mechanics since she's the same height as the female characters in the game (several inches shorter than male characters) but sometimes she fall under the floor. This is more apparent in ME3. But I find its more funny that turians (notably Garrus) sometimes morphed from big to small depending on the scenes.... the length of Garrus' single foot is the width of a man's chest. Turians are huge and tower over most male humans in-game, even Saren could easily lift Shepard over his head. They look like adorable aliens instead of a race of scary ruthless military imperialists...

Okay, so I'm not talking about the big hitters like Cerberus, or the ending, or killing a favourite character or whatnot.

Let's just chill out and talk about the daft stuff that drives you crazy while playing ME1, 2 or 3.

For me it's the decryption games, especially in ME2.  They're SO annoying.

I'm Commander Shepard, why the hell can't I just shoot a lock open or press an app to open a damn safe?  Urgh it's like rogues being the only ones who can open chests in DA, only with annoying, repetitive mini-games.  Never again.  Please.  I beg you.  :crying:

Also inventory management in ME1, but thankfully they axed that in 2 and 3 so I'm hopeful it won't be coming back.

Oh, quite the opposite here. I hate it when game is just about shooting and does not force the player to THINK and solve puzzles. The little thing that I hated was that puzzles were to easy, so easy - it was annoying to solve them. Hopefully there will be more of them MEA and hopefully they will be more "advanced". The game will be PEGI 18 and I am sure we deserve better puzzles than for a 5 years old child.

I enjoy puzzles, just not having to do the same ones over and over again just to open a safe.  Got repetitive and they bug the crap outta me in ME2.

I do like the little puzzles added to DLCs like MoTA and Project Overlord.  They weren't super complex but it was a refreshing change.  :)

I don't like combat that relies heavily on cover shooting. I would like noncombat resolution to major plot points. I don't want to have to refuel my spaceship when exploring or traveling in general.

Shut up, b****. I'll check my e-mail when I damn well want to.

Mind reading or controlling aliens.

Oh, and aliens with stupidly long life spans.

Forced Friendship

I agree, I found it weird that in the beginning of ME2 once Shepard talks to TIM and he tries to talk to Miranda and all the convo options are guided in trying to be friends with Miranda and she always shoots Shepard down.

What I found weary was the repetitive "I have to go." conversation enders, and "Tell me about you." conversation starters. Repetition cuts development costs, but these needed more variations. Interruptions by other crewmates would have been a nice way to do a "I've got to get going; we'll talk later." In terms of development costs, how much time does it take for a voice-over actor/actress to say 20 different ways of saying "good bye, I need to get going."?  Half an hour of recording time? I know, there'd have to be 20 different facial movements to generate, times 2.

Or just end the conversation without saying anything

Class weapon restrictions (duh)

Overly hammy, corny and joking dialogue (3 is especially guilty of this, and it bothers me a whole lot more than the ending)

Barrier not powerful enough in gameplay

No decent options for testing out new weapons at your leisure until Citadel DLC, even the original shooting range in 3 sucks at demonstrating how weapons perform during actual combat

No plain or even homely female characters, every single human woman except Ann Bryson and Shep looks like she could qualify as an underwear model and none of the ones who are supposed to be exceptional soldiers look nearly athletic enough without heavy armor, including Shepard.

The timing of cues to relax and talk with NPCs and crewmembers is incredibly weird, making Shepard seem neglectful and whimsical for constantly wasting time, visiting the Citadel and/or darting around just to socialize and talk to people about their problems

Yeah, it can sometimes be so off, especially if a conversation is dramatic or emotional.

 - 'So everyone was blown up, and my cat died and the last unicorn in the galaxy keeled over and bled out Shepard'

-  'I should go'

Really?   That's all you've got?  They could've had a compromise, done more special endings for particular dialogues so it didn't sound like you were bored with whoever you were talking to.

ME1: The Mako (yeah, I'm SOL.)

ME2: Ideas like the Lazurus Project and the human Reaper.

ME3: Deus Ex and boss fights that culminate in a 20 minute info dump.

Overall: Boring companions like Ash, Kaiden, and Jacob; and romances constructed as follows: 3 flirts + 2 favors = let's bang.

For myself, I did not find Ash or Kaiden boring, but very depressing and shell shocked over the events of three years.

Especially when Garrus says it if he wasn't recruited in ME1. Too bad Shepard wasn't given the opportunity of asking him 'what old times are you talking about'?

I wouldn't describe Ashley as boring either, everyone seems to be really polarized about her. You either love her or hate her (Can't say the same thing about Kaiden. He may have a lot to say but he's blank as a brick wall).
