Have you checked out the Expanse? You might dig it if you liked Battlestar Galactica. It kind of has a similar vibe.

 

Five episodes in and I think it's the best series Syfy has done, and the best Sci Fi TV series of the last 10 years or so.

The first episode is very exposition heavy, and really should have been combined with the second to form a single two hour episode...but if you stick with it the series it really heats up by the end of Episode 2.

Most expositions start slow. I needed the entire first season of Voyager to warm up to it.

I watched the original trilogy with my daughter recently and can see how people who didn't grow up with Star Wars might not be enamored of it. It will always have a special place in my heart, though. I thought the new one did what it needed to do, so I'm in for the next few. At this point there's so much good geeky stuff that it's hard to keep up with all of it. I may never watch Buffy or Farscape or the original Star Trek.
