The Inquisition cannot be defeated conventionally.

THey'd have to find some ancient Elvhen device they could attach to Skyhold and...

Nevermind.

HA!

Would they have to listen to a magical projection of the OGB as well?

Well, considering it was the Inquisition who chose the next occupant of the Sunburst Throne, and that the Divine counts on Inquisition support, the Chantry would never sanction an attempt to attack it.  :?

The Sunburst Throne wasn't able to do much to stop the Exalted Council which, one way or another, destroys the Inquisition as a independent standing army.

---------------------------------------------

I imagine things would kick off well before any formal troop movements were involved.  'Hostilities', if you will, would probably start with a series of increasingly anti-Inquisition laws, such as a heavy tax on goods heading into the Frostbacks (with built in exemption for Orzammar).  As others have correctly pointed out, and Trespasser makes clear, the Inquisition only continues to exist because Orlais and Ferelden allow it.  Both countries could make things extremely difficult for the Inquisition without ever mobilizing their armies, and it just gets worse if forces have to get involved.

If Orlais and Ferelden united against it yes they probably could. But tbh Orlais didn't want the Inquisition disbanded as they saw it as a good ally to have and the fact it was doing a good stabilizing job after all the chaos Corypheus caused. Ferelden on the other hand dosen't seem to like anyone that can potentially can cause them problems even if that group has no plans to. It's kind of strange really given that Ferelden was almost destroyed twice (first with the Blight and the whole mess Arl Howe and Loghain left behindand then again by Corypheus) within  a decade and they still don't trust outside help when it's offered

My Warden would've then killed my Inquistor (she's a Templar/Champion. My Quiz is a Mage. She wouldn't have stood a chance against my super mega OP Warden). So yeah, there's that.

...Orlais can send fifty thousand men across a river to invade Fereldan. Why wouldn't twenty thousand suffice to kill a mercenary army of less then a tenth of that?

The Inquisition can be defeated quite easily conventionally.

No, didn't you hear me THE INQUISITION CANNOT BE DEFEATED CONVENTIONALLY!

This isn't about strategy or tactics!  This is about survival!  The Inquisition is more powerful than they are.  More advanced, more intelligent.  They don't fear them, and will never take pity on them!

My Inquisitor could defeat the armies of Ferelden and Orlais one-handed!

Because, you know... that whole amputation thing.

Mock if you will. I'm certain the Maker is less amused.

That's why my Inky keeps a heavy weapon handy: Sera's thousand cuts, that carves dragons like a Ninja blender. Just as the Warden's recovering from the onslaught of pointy things everywhere, BAM! Sudden flash freezing via fade step and beheading by spectral blade.

Yeah; dats true but one on one the Quiz would be toast. My Warden would also have the OP King Alistair, his army (she'd have Leliana too; they were friends). And the Wardens. It wouldn't be a fair fight, lol.

Well, they wouldn't beat my Inquisition.

An army marches on it's stomach.

The Inquisition would be boned logistically if both Orlais and Ferelden turned on it, since the territory the Inquisition controlled was centered on the Frostbacks and between both nations. The Inquisition would have been dependent on farms from the lowland areas in Ferelden and Orlais.

Also since the bulk of the army was Orlesian or Ferelden, a lot of troops would probably desert out of divided loyalties.

It would be a short war, and end with the Inquisitor's head on a spike.

Somebody mention a bridge.. No worries a bridge can be taken by a company of men. Archers would keep the defenders heads down while a company charged  across the bridge followed by a stronger force of  reinforcements. I can't think of anybody that would be willing to risk getting a arrow in them when they stood up to repel the attacking force.

I will agree taking a bridge intact  in WWII was costly as it would be today. A infantryman's nightmare.

Sad. I was hoping it would actually appeal to the hikkikomori and otaku. Leave it to Westerners to popularize the things the Japanese hate and give us hope.
