Please tell me it will not.

I truly enjoy the ME3 MP online experience (minus the shell/lobby/stalls/glitches), and this is all free to access with no Sony interference.  Seems not to have been a major burden to Bioware to maintain (although i was late to the party for the weekend events, they were shut down before i could participate... :/ ) as they still run quite fine.

I am no fan of PS Plus, with my experience of being forced to subscribe to play Battlefront online.  There must be a better business model that gives value to those who purchase Bioware products.

What is the plan and how does/will Bioware approach this present day/into the future?

I'm 99.99999% sure we need PS+ for any ME:A online play.

Take it up with Sony. Bioware has no involvement in how Sony chooses to run its online service or what Sony charges for access to its network.

The only thing Bioware is responsible for is making sure that EA's and Sony's servers play nice, and ME:A patch support. Sony could charge the blood of your firstborn for PS Plus for all BW cares.

Yep.  Xbox has been doing it forever.  Sony saw that people will pay for it so they did it too.

Games like Planetside 2 don't, probably to do with it being a free online multiplayer game for PC. Any games that aren't that, a free online multiplayer game, will requite PS+. No exceptions as far as I know, and that includes multiplayer only games like Rainbow Six: Siege and Star Wars: Battlefront.

I'm pretty sure online subscriptions that allows a user to play a game with other people wasn't a business practice first developed by Microsoft.

I'm pretty sure it will, and honestly, I'm surprised it has taken this long for them to start charging people to use their online network. But I hope that they also have an offline MP option, like Star Wars Battlefront has.

There are now over 35 million PS4s. Not to mention PS3s and Vitas that all (can) connect to their online infrastructure.  Also, Sony has been making moves to have their platform be the console of choice for fighting games (Street Fighter V will be exclusive) and competitive FPS multiplayer games (marketing deals with Activision for CoD and Destiny).

So at some point Sony determined that in order to make good on this, they need to invest in their online infrastructure.  In order to do that, they have to charge money for it.

Final Fantasy XIV doesn't since it has a subscription fee already. I don't know any other sub-required MMOs on PS4 but my guess is they would be similar.

Fighting games are horrible on Playstation controllers thanks to the awful thumbsticks, so unless people are going to invest in an arcade stick, they're wasting their time. And Destiny is hardly a competitive shooter (not to mention that anyone who is at all serious about first-person shooters will play them on a PC, since mouse/keyboard is much more precise than thumbsticks).

Pretty much anything multiplayer that's not an MMO requires PS+.

If I'm remembering correctly, DAI multiplayer required PS+, so in all likelihood MEA will as well.

For you, that might be true. For players like me a good gamepad are better than any mouse and keyboard are, is, and ever will be.

It's not even a matter of opinion. Keyboard/mouse is more precise and capable of faster aim speeds than a thumbstick.

Funny that Amazon BO3 sold the most on Xbox despite Sony's best efforts.

I realized that having a personal dislike for MP/online games is turning out to be a blessing for my bank account...there so few games I actually enjoy (most CDPR & BW) so I generally never use PS+. The only thing I like is the upload save data feature but I bought a memory stick just for that. I had a one year subscription last year but was so fed up with their indie games that I found no reason to continue the subscription. I'm totally fine now without it.

Ofc if you like MP then you should go for it I'd advise though instead of making a full year subscription, opt for the monthly one. If you know there is a particular game you like on PS+ or you want to play the MP of a new game then do it for that month. I'm 100% confident you will need PS+ for MEAMP

Seems like it will so there is no point of ME:A even having multiplayer- on PS at least. Better just make more effort on single player- that you actually can play by purchasing the game.
