Interesting. Well, I'd say Cass doesn't cover the rogue class at least.
Depends on the character concept, I think. A rogue could fit a similar "faithful warrior" role, just more lightly armored and without the heavy-duty frontline leader aspect.
I got more disappointed when JoH came out and the last Inquisitor was a mage. For the same reason you're talking about Cass. That's one too many mages ruling over this organization back to back. For me at least. I could do with spreading things around. And it's also why I think the elf is a little smug choice. I don't want to discard my character though. It'd be a shame.
That's a good point, and I definitely hear you about the "smugness" ... both on a character level and on a fandom level. At least Ameridan had that distinguishing feature of being a genuine dual believer, which can't have been an easy balancing act for him.
