HEAVY SPOILER ALERT.

She saved the Wardens in DAO,she saved the Hawke family in DA2,and she didn't take Morrigan's body in DAI. Always something in return for herself,of course...But it's hard for me to see her as really evil or something. And she took those Darkspawns down like mosquitoes.

I like her too. Too bad her armor isn't available for Hawke. It might be for a pc that's modded, but I play on the ps3.

Everyone seems to like Flemeth. I don't think I've ever seen anyone say they hate, or even merely dislike, her.

The only thing I don't like about her is this DA2 hair redesign. To me it comes off as if BioWare was trying too hard, and that they meant her design to be "cool". Like, what reason is there to add horns to her hair, besides improving her appearance (which I don't think they do)? We know she can turn into a dragon, so does she really need dragon horns in her hair? It's not like shape-shifting requires the mage to bare physical similarities, besides maybe eyes, mouth, ears, nose, heart or brain.

Flemeth is awesome. A very complicated character who's all about shades of gray. (And Kate Mulgrew's voice acting puts it over the top for me.)

I like Flemeth too. But I don't always play it that way with the wardens. Out of my characters, I think her true ally is Hawke.. especially sarcastic Hawke (who kind of sits in the same grey area).

One thing I really like about her is that she's a badass older woman.  How many of them do you find in games?  That alone makes her special, but mix that with her attitude and awesome outfit, damn, I wanna be her when I grow up.  :D

So many questions about her though....DAI spoiler -

Ooooooohh, your a Dragon? Can I be one, too? - Hawke (I'm not sure if that's right which I doubt it was because I have horrific scarcasm.)

I mean I did defeated her in DAO (and had to change to game difficulty to "easy" to do so) in order to get the grimoire for Morrigan...I didn't know then she was actually not an evil character. If I'd ever play the game again,I think I'd just take the grimoire without putting a finger on her...can't believe I really really respect her at this point...and yes,she looks better than women half of her age! That body makes Jane Fonda go hiding!

I feel like I'm doing things wrong even if I don't embrace this bit of it on non-sarcastic Hawkes.

"But I wasn't certain. Never is ever certain." Even Merathari falls in the category, despite being a sweeter old woman.

It contrasts with the more hard nosed characters, like Meredith/Petrice/Arishok/Anders. They're all so sure of themselves. Especially the Qunari.

My Hawke don't care for dem then. He's got his own schedule to keep (a dinner date with Isabela on her ship is what's he's doing right now.... Probaly. )

Same question here! I don't really understand the ending of DAI...at first I thought she took Solas' body instead, and then the Trespasser DLC came out,Solas is still Solas...so,if Solas is actually Fen'Haral, and Flemeth is actually Mythal, what's their relationship? Why Flemeth chose to petrify herself infront of Solas?....guess we'll just have to wait and see in the new game.

HUGE DAI AND TRESPASSER SPOILERS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...

I watched it again and my interpretation is that Solas killed her or took Mythal from her (as I don't think she's Mythal, perhaps she just nicked her soul?).  If you watch Solas' face just before the magic happens, his expression changes, therefore he did something to her.  I think.  No doubt Bioware will prove me totally wrong.

I guess the other option is she infected him so she could control him, but after Trespasser that seems less likely to me.  And also I hope not, I'd prefer it the other way round, that all this veil **** is about to go down because Solas has reasons, not that Flemeth wants to take over the world by using his body.

One thing I have to wonder is what exactly was planned in the Exalted March expansion. The Well of Sorrows stuff and Flemeth was supposed to be in DA2 originally.. then when things got canceled, they recycled it. David Gaider was bummed even after DAI came out that he doesn't want to talk too much about it.

No doubt Merrill would have had a better part. But I kind of wonder if Hawke could have drank and been tied to Mythal. Hell, I wonder if Flemeth would just outright adopt or even possess a female Hawke. She makes a better daughter than Morrigan. lol

Is it wrong that I want to put my fingers in my ears and sing 'lalalala' and not know?  Finding out some awesome other version of what should have happened would just make me sad.  And confused.  And wandering thru a desert not knowing where to turn *dramatic sob*

Yeah but anyway, I assume Morrigan would have come back thru an Eluvian for the Mythal stuff, and wouldn't Sebastian have marched on Kirkwall to cleanse it of it's evil red lyrium and blood mages?  Meh I'd really rather not know lol, I find the world we have now overwhelming and confusing enough as it is.  If I could read David Gaider's notes my brain would probably implode.

Edit- Oh and yes, I assume Merrill was meant for better things.  Her story kind of peters out pathetically doesn't it?

Sorry about that. I suppose it doesn't matter now. But it still bums me out too, since I loved DA2. And it seems that EA forced the issue.. I don't think it was the writer's first choice. I hate that marketing screws up games more than it does other media (like books/movies).

I think Morrigan would have showed up in a story like that too. I'm more sad that Merrill gets left by the wayside on this whole storyline..not just Hawke. It's made even worse because they had to write another story with Briala and Celene/Gaspard, traipsing about the Eluvian. Poor Merrill. Even Gaspard knows more about Dalish lore than her. Not just Morrigan and Briala.

But what if Hawke is a man and not a mage.....I think there must be something special about Morrigan we don't know yet, since she's known to be a secret keeper! Morrigan had the Warden killed Flemeth in DAO,and it's been ten years,Flemeth is still on the hunt for Morrigan's body...why??? I'm sure there's hundreds of angry elves and mages out there (like Anders) who would willingly give up his or her body for Flemeth to possess, why must be Morrigan? Daivd Gaider did noted Flemeth will continue her hunt for Morrigan,so I believe we'll definitely see Morrigan again in the future...or not if he changes his mind.

I always loved this exchange in DAO,

Warden: I don't know what to believe.
Flemeth: A statement that possesses more wisdom than it implies.

Yeah, male mage is a wildcard. Not the obvious Flemeth representative, at least gender wise. Still cool though.

If you have high cunning, there's a similar line that she likes as well. Forgot what it was. Something like "Believed or not, some things must be accepted."

THIS.  So much this.  The first time I saw it I did a mental headdesk.  It actually makes her look like a Qunari with human skin color, size and ears.

Like she says though, "Maybe I AM a dragon.."

If so, maybe she likes to retain some of the look. While the plain old woman she was in DAO was playing herself down, for the Warden's benefit.

Oh yes I can see that.  She was giving the illusion of an easily lead old woman to manipulate you then you see the real her in DA2. Although on the other hand Morrigan is very scathing about her being a dowdy old hag which suggests she's been so for a while.  Urgh this is confusing.

The boring answer of 'Bioware decided to re-design her' is no fun whatsoever.  Clearly it's an evil double bluff or mage skullduggery.
