Double Dash Cabal is best off host class of all time.

Anything is doable off host, just depends on how bad the latency is. When rubber banding everywhere, nothing seems effective besides playing the weapon
Again, try a Fury with the timing of AF priming being completely off. And when you do get that right. You throw will detonate a combo over your dead corpse. Then try it on host and see a world of difference and how Fury should always work.
Salarian Engineer can't combo Incinerate > ED at all. Like an entire match of looking like a noob for ED'ing armour.
Lot of biotic combos don't go off at all. Or again, over your dead corpse. Or powers like warp fly off to a new planet.
And so on. Lots and lots of issues off host.

we still there ? Nade kits are the obvious answer if u got nade gear above 2 or 3 and more than 3/4 thermal clips each game

99% of my matches are off-host (rage quits by hosts sometimes grant me godlike powers).
I would argue that I have the most success with weapon (Talon GI) and grenade kits, (Harrier MQE, Claymore HSol) although there are ways to play other classes. If I wanted to go with an Adept, I find that AOE biotic explosions grant a little lag-forgiveness. Human Adept with Singularity and Shockwave fits the bill here. Same would be true with Engineers, but it's harder to register an initial hit with a tech power (exluding flamer/snap freeze) over something like Singularity or Biotic Bubble since these can be cast in place without a target.

It'll cause BSN grumbles, but the Paladin is very 'empty cupboard' friendly.

Due to the improved BE dmg stacking, id day Classic human adept, it is a char you can bring to a game and wreck everything without even using weapons at all.
Classic human engineer, great shield stripper and armor dmg, loads of fire and tech explosions.
They are abit squishy, but they are a great asset to any team if played right.
AIU specced mele and extra tech explosion dmg, team up with buddy using 3hit overload and laugh at that Cryo cheese: https://www.youtube....h?v=BlkSYt4Csqw

Yeah depends extremely on the latency of the connection. I've played with some friends where the connection was nearly of host quality.

It's not an alt.
Or maybe learning from a friend who has retired from this game telling me how to play ME3 MP is too crutch.

Any character with grenades especially with a grenade gear V and lots of thermal packs. Laugh like a maniac while you steal kills from vanguards halfway across the map. Also if someone in your team is sniping, be helpful to him by spamming the nades at his feet. Those swarmers can kill you man!

For me it's the human adept since I started playing ME3 MP and able to dominate gold with it and a tempest and only limited to 2 medi gels, cobras, TCPs and op packs.
I bet you think Axe bodywash is the best thing since sliced bread

If you have the Raider, then the AIU, GI, Kroguard and Tsol are pretty solid.
If you have the Reegar, then the Juggy, Kroguard and AIU.
If you have the Acolyte, Flamer Geth Trooper.
If you really don't have any decent weapon then a light-weight, combo-oriented Paladin is a good choice. Whenever you fell ballsy, the Katana is quite viable on most Infiltrators on Gold.

^ Reeger with very little ammo is not the best on a slow Jug. Especially since your pierce modes and thermal mods won't be where you want them.
I'd never touch the Acolyte GT Flamer. But this tip is legit, sadly.
I was lucky enough to score Eagle out the gate, so that weapon can get you 200% cooldown on any kit and setup even at level 1 (195 on many even without passives). Best starting weapon ever.
You really can't weapon focus much, even with Infiltrators, because you don't have the pierce mods and/or consumables. These are the biggest handicaps to starting new. Not level 1 weapons. (I've just got my SMG pierce mod to lvl2. And SMG + shotgun pierce mods need to be maxed because thier max pierce values is so low. ie. It doesn't even feel like it can get double hits on lowly guardians at levels 1 and 2 HVB on a Hurricane2. And ever try so see how long it takes to shot down an Atlas without double hits?)

Human adept, although it gets so much more powerful combined with a acolyte pistol.
It's my favorite plat class.
