Actually, poison could easily be something a hunter would find useful.  Poison tipped arrows would bring down prey faster.  Same with poisoned traps.  I think it makes sense for a hunter to know about poisons.  They might not use them as much as a Brosca, but I feel like they'd still have a working knowledge.

Don't know enough about the chemistry to say for certain, but I'd imagine that poisoning something you intend to eat isn't a great idea.

Good point.  I hadn't considered that.  However, it's worth keeping in mind that some things that are toxic to animals aren't toxic to humans, or are toxic to humans at much higher doses.  So some poisons could be useful for hunting, though you'd have to know which they were and in what doses to use them.

In general, though, you're probably right.

Poison would not be great for Hunters. What Hunters need are Survival skills and Trapping. They need to be able to scout the forests effectively and trap animals effectively.

As Thomas Blaine stated, poisoning the animal is a sure fire way to ensure that the people who consume it later suffer sickness or die. That being said, you can still invest in Poison-Making but only use the skill to make bombs and grenades.

Another good skill for a Hunter is Herbalism since you can roleplay that you spend your free time learning how to mix potions because while you hunt, you also gather herbs.

The only thing Poison-Making 1 lets you work is Deathroot and spider toxin. Makes sense a hunter would be familiar with both.

But would they know how to prepare both of those?

Before I answer this, bear in mind that I'm probably entirely the wrong person to ask.

That said, the first thing I'd try is a sort of reddish brown.

I don't buy that. At some point two people will want the personal use of the same thing, and it will occur to one of them to take it from the other.

It doesn't really work.  The Dalish are nomads who sleep in very tight quarters.  Among their scant personal possessions what can they steal and get away with it?  The only thing they could steal is food, and they're hunter gatherers with the food held in common.

In any case I'd guess their most severe punishment would be expulsion (with expulsion meaning that the injured parties are free to hunt you down and kill you if they can.)

I intend to play my Dalish Warden for the last time, with all past mistakes fixed and changing some choices.

Thing is, I'd like to give him a diferent vallaslin this time. Andruil works well for any hunter, but having a huge bow and arrow tattooed on a warrior's face feels just wrong. I've tried to shrug it off, but I can't.

June? It is overused in the fandom and that bothers me. Besides, Fenarel already took it. I don't want my Warden to have the same vallaslin as other named characters from his clan.

Mythal, Dirthamen, Falon'din? All we have is the fanon saying which designs those are. I would never be sure.

Elgar'nan doesn't fit my character's personality.

That leaves me with... Ghilan'nain. She isn't the most important, the most powerful or even the most interesting elven goddess, but at least the design looks good.

However, I can't come up with a reason why my Warden would choose this vallaslin. At least not something better than "Halla are pretty".

Does your character enjoy traveling?

"I like traveĺing" isn't a lot better. It should be something more meaningful, more important.

“It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive", or “broader horizons lead to an expanded mind”. It's all about the phrasing.

You just need the right poison, something that does mayhem in the bloodstream but won't survive the digestive process.
