There aer always going to be people criticising the games. Personally I prefer to makle my own mind up if it's a game that get's my attentoin then good otherwise I won't bother. But for the most part for me Bioware have done a pretty solid job. As long as they continue to do so in the single player area then I'll continue to back them.

 And they ran, they ran so far away.

They just ran, ran to the next galaxy.

Can they get away?

Natural, and unsurprising, really.

After all, what's common behavior after dropping a big, smelly deuce?

Get as far away as possible.

Like 2.5 million light years.....

So my hype levels for Andromeda are sky high, not only because it's moving on from the original trilogy but also because it's being devoloped for current Gen systems in mind, something Inquisition should've been instead of having focus on reaching the people that didn't want to make the switch to new gen consoles and of course the game suffered with less features than promised with that 1st gameplay at PAX.

/snip

Wow that is rewriting history in the extreme. The scheduled release of DA:I was suppose to be  over a year before its actual release so in your mind EA and Bioware should have designed the game for a console system NOT EVEN released yet? Yay because that makes perfect sense. You don't design a game for a platform that isn't due to be released until after your product launches.

DA:I's year delay did put it post console launch but that wasn't by design. It makes perfect sense that the game was made for both last gen and current gen systems given its development history and not just looking at a single data point its release date.

Given that gamers are some of the worst informed consumers on the planet, No i don't think ME:A can avoid controversy because gamers will say things and form opinions on things they are ignorant about even before a product or information has been released. Rumour and opinion rein supreme, knowledge and facts are swept away as inconvenient to opinions.

This franchise was only just barely big enough to survive the last shitstorm.

But lets not get ahead of ourselves, its going to be what it is and we don't know what that is yet.

Whatever happens, someone will be disappointed. It's always like that.

Having experience with marketing and business, i can say that Bio and EA made a great move with Andromeda. They are escaping the whole controversy with Mass Effect 3 ending, star child & IT and opening a new page if that can be said, now that i think about it its more like they are writing a new book to be honest. To answer your question, no i dont think it can escape the whole controversy until the community gets some solid answers and if i was asked i could bet that there will be another Mass Effect game that has Shepard in it in the near future, or we will get a God forbid Half Life 3 scenario (Gaben pls ).

Am i excited? Hell yeah! I think this would be a great game that i can spend countless hours exploring and playing. I'm also aboard the hype train and i hope that Bio wont disappointed with the new features they are implementing.

Your concerns in regards to the games launch are thankfully not well founded, as a dev said on Twitter the game is in a playable state now and i read in a interview somewhere where the devs said this is going to be the best looking game they ever made. Having all this in mind i do think it will be ready for its Q4 2016 launch and i really can't wait.

No, because the pessimists and the over emotional fans can't let it go.

If you ask if Andromeda can escape controversy from the bsn and the mass effect community overall, nope it can't, whether it is successful or not, whether it makes mostly sense or not, whether it is a good game or not. I'm sure once MEA is released, after a few hours playing the game, some will be eager to come here and scream in a few topics what they already screamed before the release and since the mass effect endings, maybe a bit louder.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone, yeah I should've reinstated that any Bioware game will never escape the source of controversy by the Bioware Forums lol. I just hope Andromeda doesn't get ****-canned by the general public like ME3 did. I'm sure the Montreal team are putting tons of effort and care into this new chapter for the franchise, just hope they don't crack under pressure by the hype its generating after the very strong/positive reaction of that E3 2015 trailer.

Mass Effect 3 was 95% awesome, in my opinion. It was criticized because it flopped on the single most important part of an epic trilogy...the ending.

BSN = controversy.

If the game is half decent, most people won't be troubled by the occasional controversy in a tea cup...

People nowadays like to make a big fuss out of everything...I think it's part of the sensationalistic journalism/media environment in which we are imbued. So yes there will be controversy and the enraged thread appearing a couple of hours after the game release. It's normal, it's usual and most importantly it's pointless bickering. Read these threads if you want like you would read gossip journals then move on and focus on more important things.

I sure hope some of the techinical issues stay around.

ME1 textures that didn't load... extreme framereate lag when biotics fill the screen...

Oh, man. I'd love to see the thing where my character doesn't have eyelids in a serious cutscene again. "ARIA WE CAN'T JUST BLAST OUR WAY IN"

*deathstare*

It's all part of the charm.

Judging by the Star Wars criticism, expect people to blast Andromeda while saying ME3 was better.
