I did his loyalty mission the paragon way, saving the people and letting the guy get away. At the end a beam fell on Zaeed and most of my dialogue choices seemed to imply leaving him to die. I chose the only obvious 'I'll save you' option (there was a paragon choice, but it was like "You deserve to die here" or something, and considering the earlier paragon interrupt made me punch him, the idea of this choice resulting in him dying didn't seem far fetched, but I don't know).
So now his mission is over and he isn't loyal. Am I screwed out of him ever being loyal? It doesn't really seem fair to paragon players if that's the case.
Can this sort of thing happen with other character's loyalties? It's really frustrating.
Did I screw up Zaeed's loyalty?

The paragon dialogue choice will result in gaining his loyalty.

You still gain his loyalty even if you go with the Paragon options.

I downloaded Zaeed apparently. But I havent got a mission for him yet. Is there a certain point where the quest pops up? Thanks for the help.

Sorry, you should've taken the Paragon option and shown him the heroes don't screw around. Always take the blue option when you see it, ALWAYS.

You can get him immediately. He's on Omega right after you dock.

I went the paragon route and have his loyalty, but there is a small red sphere underneath his feet.
I'm worried that because I went paragon bad things are in store.
p.s. It sucks major balls that you can't EVEN talk to him on the normandy, only listen to the floating gun spout off one liners. Disgusting.

The red sphere is what signifies you have his loyalty.
And you can actually talk with him, and he has a lot to say. There's no dialogue tree, it's true, but if you go and see him after missions he actually has a lot more to say about them than other party members do.

Eh, that makes sense. He didn't end up downloading until I finished Garrus and Mordin's recruitment, so there wasn't much for me to go back there. Thanks.

I did Paragon and got his Loyalty. I guess it really depends on what you say at the end.

Indeed - not using the paragon dialog will result in not gaining his loyalty (if you went through the paragon actions) so make sure to use it! It forces him to get over his grudge and become dedicated to your mission.

On my current playthrough I saved the people and choose paragon options but I didn't get his loyalty. Back on Normandy there is no option to talk to him, although my paragon counter is almost full.
