Pick the three most important parts of the game you're looking forward to in ME:A from this list.

Quest Writing

Story and Romance Writing

Level Design

User Interface

Voice Acting

Soundtrack/Songs

Multi-platform Accessibility

Single-player Balancing

Single-player Character Customization

Squad-mates/Squad Customization

Weaponry Options and Customization

Multiplayer Servers/Improved Connectivity/Matchmaking

Multiplayer Balancing

Multiplayer Customization

Store Optimization/Unlocks

Forums/Advertising/Fan-base Inclusion and Accessibility

Achievements

-Feel free to add to this list in your reply, try to keep it on the same level, broad in scope yet narrower than "Game Design".

Now I'm telling you one is going to be done Poorly, one will be done Satisfactorily, and one will be done Well. Now pick which is which.

Now that that's done, pretend you're reading the General Discussion forum for the game you've just allocated resources for. You've had to make the tough call, and you know one aspect of the game you're working on is going to fall flat. There's nothing you can do about it. The fan-base is making ten threads a day talking about how you've failed miserably at whatever you chose to do Poorly at.

Would you...

Just curious.

I'd pick Multiplayer to do poorly at. Never cared for the mode. Story mode is the only thing that matters in a Mass Effect game. MP doesn't even belong anywhere on it.

Story and content is what matters. As well as graphics and level design. Music? I want "Kiss of Life" by The Corrs as my main romance theme:

I breathe you in, you're beautiful
And angels fly to Babylon to save the world for you
You loved me and I came alive, all of me on fire
Surrendered like I'm made of wax
Your flame, the kiss of life

Quest Writing

Story and Character Writing (Changed Romance to Character, since the romance paths are just a small and optional part of a character's arc)

Level Design

If one of those three was going to turn out poorly I'd guess I'd choose level design, as much as it would pain me. I can live with a game that has slightly crap gameplay if the story is good or at least fun. (Hello, Mass Effect 1)

Anything story-related is always going to be the top priority for me.

Out of the two options for interaction with the fanbase I'd go with A, though I can definitely see how people would get sick of that. Online gaming communities tend to be fairly toxic even on the best of days. Nearly every thing you say is going to picked over with a fine-toothed comb, and if the game did not go over well, you're going to become the fans' pinata whether you deserve it or not.

I guess, since I must, I pick voice acting.

I'd probably address it to a point, but I'd dread doing so.

Movement/controls. (not listed)

All previous ME games were fine on Keyboard/Mouse, as was the DA series, until the new Frostbite engine and DAI.

PC took it in the arse as far as movement/controls with Inquisition in comparison to the previous DA and ME games.

I hope this issue is not a FB thing, and that all the platforms have controls work well.

I must be like the only person who thought the pc controls for DAI  was fine. I never really had a problem with them and it kinda reminded me of the controls in a MMORPG.

I am very sleep deprived, so not quite sure i understand what this is about, but i'll give it a shot.

Story and Quest writing- Satisfactorily

Level design - poorly

Combat system, or if you prefer, gameplay - Well

I would read the forum and attempt to adress their concerns, like a fool, and then run far away.

I agree. Romance and Achievements is the better pairing.

Story - more important than everything else, even gameplay can suck a bit in favor for epic storyline with multiple outcomes in various spots.

Story and Romance Writing

Soundtrack/Songs

Voice Acting

I'd take crappy voice acting over anything, as it could be saved by a killer soundtrack. But as always, story comes first and foremost.

Most important to me:

Story & Romance (character) writing - done satisfactorily

UI & Gameplay - done well

Soundtrack - done poorly (which would break my heart, but still is less important than the top two. Though realistically, I can't see them messing up the soundtrack for this game.)

I'd probably try to adress the concerns, but get annoyed after reading two topics and run away forever.

Story and Character writing

Gameplay - including user interface and character customization

Voice Acting

Soundtrack

Quest & Level design

Romance writing

Multi-player

Face it, all of the stuff listed in the OP is important in a AAA title today. But if they fall down on the gameplay, story, characters, and voice acting, soundtrack, level design, it will bomb. Story and romance but nothing about the character writing? Is this a dating sim? Oh, this is BSN.

Pick the three most important parts of the game you're looking forward to in ME:A from this list.

Quest Writing: Satisfactorily

Story and Romance Writing: Well.

Single-player Character Customization: Poorly (so about ME1-3 level..)

Would I address customization concerns? If I could fix them with patches and releasing modding tools yes.

It would bomb. These have to be addressed in the initial release because of consoles. Console players are in the majority.

For me the most important things tend to be what Bioware do best anyway (which for me is the main reason why I like their games) so I'm not really that worried about MEA in truth. In fact after seeing what the likes of what Battlefield and Star Wars Battlefront have done as well as what BW did with DAI despite it not being a shooter I'm excited for it. For me the most important things  are pretty much everything related to single player. The story pretty much seems solid enough to me. Plenty of interesting quests to pull off. Also plenty of interesting characters. The only area I think really that needs more work really from the last game DAI is the CC as I think that needs a few minor tweaks such as better hairstyles and various other things that have been mentioned across these forums but in general I'd asy that's the only area for me that does need some more work.

Patches would ably consoles as well unless Bioware went cutting platforms before important patches like they did with DAI.. but no old gen to cut anymore they probably would just patch every platform.
