I personally really like that in DAI the romanceable characters had preferences. Sure, it was a bummer if you had your heart set on being a certain race or gender and then could not romance who you wanted due to that. But I also feel like it made the characters feel more real, they had their own interested, their own preferences. And it also makes it so their remarks and conversations can reflect that. I personally prefer that to just having LIs that are romanceable by everyone. But I also understand the frustration of not being able to romance who you want.
Agreed. In particular I liked how Sera was handled. But, as you comment in the end, it can be frustrating if you get the combo wrong.
This is why the only spoiler I allow myself with new games is the romance conditions. No point in wasting time with a playthrough you wont be happy with.
