Personally I disagree, they are not pointless, just as other tender/intimate moments aren't pointless.

 

If you mean that the tenderness and intimacy is the point, I find that Bioware's dialogue is much better at facilitating that than their sex scenes are. I'd gladly trade every Bioware sex scene ever for another high-quality conversation with each respective LI. Two animated models stiffly humping each other in their underwear to epic music is never going to immerse me in a heartwarming love story.

No dialogue absent of the sex isn't much better at representing the nature of the relationship. Dialogue and visuals are both needed. Your notion is robbing peter to pay Paul in my eyes.

Because the romances get only so many resources, and resources devoted to sex scenes that I don't want will result in the rest of the romance not being as good as it could be.

Your opinion that they are a minority is irrelevant. They are numerous enough that having romances that appeal to them is a worthwhile endeavor.

Eh... I slept with Keira and Triss and tbh, it wasn't that big a deal. Nice and all, but repetitive and lacked emotion. I was expecting more, but romance scenes are always awkward in games, especially the hilarious clipping lol but after making myself exclusive with Triss, Geralt (yes I know he's a player) was all over Yen despite my choices, so it felt no different than a non-romanced Liara and Shepard giving each other the love eyes even if Shep romanced someone else. Stil felt forced. I dislike feeling forced to like someone if I have it planned another way. Despite Geralt and Yen's history, if he's chosen one girl, stop trying to fool around with the other.

 

If MEA does do romances again, I say try and keep it neutral so we can decide how our PC acts with the romance options.

I liked tw2 & 3's sexual moments and it also had some fantastic romantic moments, Triss fountain etc. so yeah think there is things to take notes from but it is a two way street. I agree that the way they had enforced flirting with regards yen is something I didn't approve of(even with the character back history) & I agree I'd prefer they retain a more neutral approach in mea.

It seems like you're both talking about two different things.  

 

Bioware deciding not to explicitly show a couple having awkward underwear sex before the big final battle doesn't lead us to the conclusion that the couple never has sex.  I think the debate is more about what they should show in the limited amount of scenes each romance will get.  Now, if they created an asexual romance option that would be a different story.

Saying that men and women are different is like saying everyone is different, because we are. We don't all want the same thing or think that the same things are important for a relationship to function. Sex can be a part of it, or it can not. Stop throwing labels around just because you got the majority on your side. Chances are this game will feature nudity and romantic scenes, and i have accepted that. That doesn't mean you have to be a jerk about it or that I even think it is fine.

Without actual sex Garrus and Thane had emotional romance scenes that felt more to me than Shep and Kaiden rolling around in bed. Kaiden just kissing Shep's hand was sweet though. That was nice stuff.

I like cd red's humour during sex scenes. Dwarf thinking baths are haunted tw2 & mages trying to work out morse code of sex.
Equally I really enjoyed humour of issy's sex and knives in da2.

Oh yeah the humor was nicely added. Liked the lighthouse sex scene best with the morse code 

 

I was referring to the recycled animations with Geralt. 

 

In ME I saw less recycled and more unique, so I hope they stay with that. In DAI the recycled animations would make a dwarf grow or a Qunari shrink.

It seems to be it would be good based on a number of actors to perhaps have more gay-expression that is more just like random and that just kinda of happens (with whichever companion bisexual or gay)

What is your problem? I never said that all men are all alike, I meant the majority of men by nature are horny all the time and won't turn down on sex and women in general (not all) don't think about sex as men do.
