Okay, I romanced Tali once, too... but I still think that cross species romances are unrealistic, even within a sci-fi universe. Especially if one partner can poison the other with their bodily fluids.

And you're the reason why the Tali post-romance scene involved her battling "allergies" for a week. Because Bioware knew that someone would cry "Realism" (as if the fact that we're in a Science Fiction universe in ME isn't enough of a pointer to the concept of suspension of disbelief). So, to poke fun at such arses, they did this:

 

If Tali survives the suicide mission, she informs Shepard that although she is "running a fever," has a "nasty cough," and her sinuses "are filled with something [she] can't even describe," "it was totally worth it."

The way they reproduce and build families doesn't work out. We were shown/told that Salarian don't have a sex drive, that they handle reproduction with contracts like business ventures and that they move past emotions very quickly. None of that makes sense if you think in terms of building a family (which we have seen male Salarian do with Asari).

Without the biological imperative to reproduce it's a miracle the species survived long enough to invent contracts. Since they work through their emotions quickly, they never develop lasting bonds and without those... I don't know.

I'm trying to figure out the reason why you are sitting here way overthinking things in a discussion involving a fictional futuristic universe, and I can't find a valid reason for it other than pedantry.

They do have the biological imperative, but they lack the longer lasting emotional attachments that humans have. Emotional attachment to one's child(ren) is not required for the act of sex. Neither is sexual drive. What the Solarians have is a mentally driven biological imperative.

 

 

I guess it's cool to try and poke holes in the logic of others while failing to see the holes in one's own "argument".

I don't care I'd prefer it be removed entirely.  I don't play games for romance since most devs do it half hearted, cheesy and end up pandering to certain minority sub sects in a futile effort to please everyone.  After my Kaiden suddenly hit on my male shep after denying to have a threesome with my Fem shep and Liara in ME1.  I have just wanted it to be gone from the game.  Games are meant to be fun and should not be a place to push sexual preferences and agenda's.

Well, they seemed to take a step towards fixing this in DA:I, so maybe it will carry over to ME:A? Honestly, I do not mind waiting until the end of the game. It is more important to me that the romance is good, well paced and fits that character. Having romanced Cassandra and Josephine and enjoying both of there romances, I have confidence in Bioware in this department in ME:A.

It was said that they don't have sex drive, not that they don't want to reproduce. They are interested in getting heirs, not humping each other. You'd be suprised, but even some humans are like that.

What? The reason Quarian biology is stupid has nothing to do with... whatever this is, but rather because Bioware used two completely contradictory concepts in their insane view on immunology.

Actually, a romance with some discussion can be interesting. Having the characters interact and having some confrontation (without inevitable break up, or forced disaster like Jacob   I'd like to never have ever again infedelity in any future game, expecially if handled that way.) can be an interesting way to have some interaction and seeing the relationship grow. Even if the interaction between the two end up being a little tense for a time, to than have them make piece.

 

For experience I know is very rare to have a stable and sane relationship without some squarrel. Only couple who don't talk with one another have an always perfect relationship. And those usually have problems in the long run.

Lol I meant generally. I want to be able to throw people out if they do something I don't like. I don't put up with stupid people in real life and I shouldn't have to either in games. I mean, it should be possible to ask them to leave or something if we don't like them, just like in real life xD

I would like the same from the LI. If my character do some stupid thing, my patner should be able to tell her/him how stupid have been.
