.....they get booted .

Poor Seggit....'You get a title while I get the boot' he mumbles in Skyhold. Flissa gets booted from her job in the tavern at Skyhold.

Others get replaced.

I saved all five...and for what? That was very wrong of Bioware I feel to do that. Just wasted lives. :(

Because it's better than dying horribly and painfully?

Flissa serves in other ways.

To be honest, I never quite got it to save them all because I'm too slow.. Across all my playthroughs 1 or 2 got left out. Still bugs me when the ones I saved don't show up in Skyhold, oh well. Better that they are unemployed than dead, right?

The player gets experience points for saving them.  I believe when talking with Cullen, after getting to Skyhold, he will have a different line of dialogue if those folks are saved or not.

I'd rather be demoted than dead. They still serve, their lives aren't wasted. Flissa joins the Chantry, for one. The Inquisition grew and changed. Everybody's job changed.

And Seggrit always complains. Always.

The point of saving people tends to be that said people live.

In all my games, I could never save all of them, until the trials were added. Now I can save them all and I'm not sure why. Makes me happy to save them though. I pretend they are real people and don't want to die just because they don't get their old jobs back.  B)

From a gameplay and story perspective?  I have no idea what the point of that was.  There was no payoff.  Just a line or two of 'Thanks for saving me, the Inquisition sucks for firing me'.

They don't become your loyal followers for saving their lives, they don't secretly turn on you and let infiltrators into Skyhold for giving their jobs to other people, they don't really do anything, and none of the new people in those positions add anything to warrant the change.

It just felt incomplete.

I saved all five...and for what?

So that they can be alive and not dead.

For the XP and Influence gains.

And best of all-  For that sweet "Vivienne Approves."

Also, there are six people to save.

The merchant guy, the former Templar lady, the bartender girl, Minaeve, the potion guy, and Threnn.   Did you miss one?!  For shame!!  :P

This is actually my main reason

That and the fact I like seeing Lysette around Skyhold.

It is a somewhat weird design. They don't really save any wordcount by booting the people who are saved, since they need some Skyhold lines anyway.

Minor Vivienne and Varric approval, that's it.

I don't recall getting any Viv approval for saving everyone, even when she was in my party. Varric definitely, but not Viv. :(

I think the you get the approval when you are talking to her the first time you can do so, at Skyhold. It's when she and the others are standing outside the building, before they move to their rooms.

No, you get Vivienne's approval at the same time as Varric's (Approves from her and Greatly Approves from Varric). And she has to be in party. Also, from what I know, her approval has to be relatively low for this to happen.

I have always gotten Vivienne's approval. It happens after saving the last person.  Also, my approval with her is sky high even before that and I still get her approval.

Did you save everyone?  Maybe it only happens if you save all 6.

Yeah I generally am too I managed to get most of them once I think. In one playthrough I think i managed at least 3 maybe 4 of them. Usually i don't get much success at all saving them  in that mission. I just think to myself so be it at that point if i fail because it's not the easiest of tasks in the game and again it dosen't lead to a game over so it's not exactly end of the world if you fail. I do try though as it's always worth trying even if it's just for the experience points I think as it definitely will help you level up faster if you pull it off.

yeah thaqt's how I always go about said missions too As the Injquisitor and leader of the group you should want as few casualties as possible. Granted your not the quizzie at that point as technically your not until you reach Skyhold and accept the position, but you're still considered one of the groups leaders being the Herald of Andraste and all.

Yes, I always save them all by micromanaging and quick-saving as I go. I got Varric's approval last time but not Viv's, even though I had her in my party specifically for that reason. It's possible I just didn't see it on the screen but I did see Varric's approval and the text usually stays long enough to be seen/read.

Hmmm...

Well, I've never taken Varric along during IYHSB.  Maybe if you have both, it doesn't display both approvals?
