However, my previous was a Paragon (ie I saved the council, didn't kill Wrex, etc), and I just got to the Citadel after doing the Omega stuff, and it appears that Bioware decided the default for ME2 would be having things set up as though you were a Renegade in the first one? Seems an odd choice. Now I'm tempted to dump my new character and load my old save because I'm not liking that everything in ME2 is setup exactly contrary to what I did in the first one.
The game appears to assume you were a Renegade?

Wrex dead + council dead + Udina on council seems pretty much all renegade.

Indeed, I know the game starts you as neutral again, but all of the choices I've run into were all the renegade ones.
Think I'm just going to go back and play through ME1, get a character the way I want it and then import.

My theory is that this way, newer player have an easier time meeting new characters if all the old ones are dead and it rewards old player a richer, more elaborate experience that they can appreciate.

So there really isn't even a full default Shepherd.

I originally didn't load my ME1 save because I chose a female Shepard last time around and wanted a male this time.

Meh I stick to my belief that sacrificing the council is the Paragon path and saving them is the Renegade path.
