As in not being constantly accompanied by AI companion characters and undertaking most missions solo? That is not to say that there would not be characters like the companions in previous Bioware games, it is just that they would not be in your party for most of the game. To be honest Bioware has not really done anything interesting with the party mechanic for a while now, at best all it really adds is an extra hand (and sometime hindrance) in combat and the occasional line of banter, whats more since the games expect you to use party members in missions it makes it hard for your party members to have any real agency in the plot since they always have to be on hand to assist you in whatever mission you are undertaking.

By getting rid of the whole party mechanic it would allow Bioware more freedom to do more interesting things with the gameplay that would currently be impossible or very awkward to implement with the party system as it is, it would also free up characters that would have usually been relegated to companion status to have more agency and allow them to do more interesting things in the plot.

And don't worry I am sure they could still work in your stupid ****** romance options as well.

I would like idea of having more DMG if you don't take anyone with you. Or mission where there isn't enough space to take your whole family and dog. But with both I'd like my companions or pilot to check on me like "Protag, what's your status?".

2 companions aren't too much. If you feel like hearing voice of human being will kill you you can turn sound off. c:

No. One of greatest things in Bioware games is that you aren't alone while doing mission.

But then I wont be able to hear the screams of my enemies.

But honestly would you not like to see more variety in the gameplay that could be offered by creating more of a solo orientated experience?

You no understand. :C

There is tons of solo games. I enjoy that BioWare sticks with it's "special" thing.

EAware is bad at story telling. If there's no companions, I assume that game would be a pretty bland experience.

If it means that I can choose whether I can go alone or not, certainly.

No. I prefer to have my team with me, especially the LI if possible.

Oh come now Bioware is hardly unique in offering party based gameplay nor does it do the most interesting implementation of party based gameplay.

Perhaps I am alone in wanting to see Bioware branch out and try something new? It is still possible to have deeper interactions with NPCs in a solo game the only difference would be they would not be fighting along side you for the most part.

And here I was hoping to strike up a romance with a member of the opposing team, one where the player is forced to decide between killing their lover or failing a critical mission.

Yeah I prefer taking a squad with me Perhaps what they might do for those that prefer solo challenges is do what they do with DA and allow you to choose to undertake missions on your own if you wish as an extra option. I personally like the whole teamwork dynamic that Bioware has in the games and I also like the idea of having backup especially as I would asy I'm not necessarily the best at this sort of game anyway.

Would be interested in hearing how it could be made better with AI companions, or how the gameplay could even work with AI companions without being a giant mess, not saying it is impossible but it would take a lot of work.

I prefer to play solo, than to have compulsory companions whose AI is dumb as sack of potatoes.

I would love for there to be some missions where we are solo, like we were in the Arrival DLC.

Eh same with ME, the gameplay wouldn't be same and would take lot of work. If that work was done Deus Ex likely would be better and Mass Effect worse.

The question is though how would Deus Ex be better with companions and what would you have to sacrifice to make it work? And how would Mass Effect be worse without AI companions and what are you really missing out on if companions don't accompany you?

What you gain when companions are with you: companion-content. What you miss when companions aren't with you: companion-content.

What does Bioware do best? Companions.

I mean alright if you are gamer whose first priority of the game is gameplay then solo adventures might provide that depending on game of course- depends how you like playing. But if you are into some other things in games like character -> companions then cutting them from missions is very bad and boring idea.

I want a team and I'd like to hear their opinions when faced with a dilemma, like when killing the rachni queen.

I think Inquisition did this well.

I'd like some diversity in the gameplay, so one or two missions where you're forced to be on your own sounds fine to me. But not a whole game. Unless you can choose whether you want to bring companions or not (like DA). But overall I like to hear what my team has to say about different situations and such.

I prefer Mass Effect to Deus Ex. I can't actually judge the merits of the existing Deus Ex against some hypothetical alternative version of Deus Ex. It'd require a big redesign.

Anyway, burden of proof's on you, since you're pitching a major change. I see no reason to want that change.. Do you have one?

What exactly do I have to prove here and how can I prove it? Most of what I am saying here are theoretical concepts based on opinion and personal preference, I believe a stronger gameplay experience can be created if they based the gameplay around a solo operative rather than one that operates as part of a squad and I can't see much being sacrificed other than fluff conversations about Morrigan's nose by tag alongs in your party in order to achieve it. I also believe it could potentially provide a stronger story telling experience as it frees up characters who would usually be companions to have more agency to do their own thing and effect the plot in more meaningful ways.

Gameplay benefits are obvious as it would give Bioware opportunities to allow the player more freedom and options outside of combat for completing their missions and without companion pathfinding to worry about it would allow more complex forms of movement instead of being constricted to relatively flat and linear terrain.

I have already given my reasons as to why I would personally like to see this however the main opposition to the idea seems to be on the basis that you can't have a strong storytelling experience or characters without party based gameplay, the question I am now asking is why can't you?
