So in the last few Bioware games they have made almost all our companions romancable. While this is great and I love the verity I think I would like them to limit the number of romance options but weave the romance into the overall story. You know have your romance option or lack there of come up in the main storyline from time to time or get alternate scenes from time to time. And have other companions just in general treat the two of you as a couple.
I would like fewer romance options with deeper story relevance.

If they did that the people that don't romance anyone would complain about too many resources being used to romancers or something and that people that romance the characters get more content than the other players. But I get what you're saying, would be cool.

Without romance the universe would be just rocks. Playing with rocks is no fun. Therefor a game without romance would be pointless.

While I couldn't care less about romances being tied to the main story I wouldn't have a problem with fewer romances so they could flesh them out more or more importantly add more character stuff with each character. Sure you lose choice but I find if a character is written well I tend to enjoy them even if they don't necessarily fit my preferred type of character.

Kidding me? I think the romance options are not enough.....want less romance and more story? Play BioShock or Borderlands or Silent Hill.... I trust BioWare with my full heart, since ME series only gets better and better each time each game, they know what they're doing.

I just hope we can avoid what happened to the Me2 romances in Me3.
Or the ME1 romances in ME2.

The first thing that would happen is that people would complain about not being able to romance every single person in the game.

I like 2-2-2, with it, everyone would have at least 2 options to choose from, some characters have less relevant than others but some can be more important like in DAO, the main relationship that has plot relevance is Alistair and Morrigan.

Romance is the meaning of life! Without it life would not persist and therefor a non romance game would not appeal to life/humans.

Yes, because those games are just like Mass Effect.

You're kidding right mate?
Life persists because people breed. Has nothing to do with romance. Romance is more or less a novelty that people with emotions like to have. Some people can have romance without banging at all. Depends on the purpose.

I don't want romances playing into the plot. Keep the romances sequestered, just make them less formulaic and samey.
All the female LIs should cheat and dump male Ryder so he has to resort to date rape a crew member by getting her too drunk to consent instead of female Ryder this time around. That should switch things up a bit. ME series' treatment of female and gay players are pretty terrible, it's kinda comical.

Nah, even better. All attractive NPCs should already be in a happy relationship with someone else, which despite the best efforts of the protagonist remains happy past the end of the game or trilogy. They should regularly parade their lover about and ask the player to "acknowledge their romance". That would be awesome.

The majority of life on Earth disagree with you.
Not too sure life in its current state is a great example anyway.
Back on topic, I'm also not sure about cutting romance options up into even sized pieces of cake to make sure nobody can complain. Romancers celibates gay straight whatever. They tried this with Inquisition and it just felt tiring having to alter everything for a new play through instead of loading the same scenario or early save slot and just rolling with a new romance and worldview.
Example is the same save from ME1 can end with
Liara romanced jack romanced Tali romanced.
Or Liara Tali Ashley.
Or Liara Miranda kaiden.
Liara Chambers Kaiden.
Liara Samara (it counts) Steve.
Or any combination you like or don't like.
That's just broshep.
A second save with Ash romanced first or as femshep plays differently.
If you start with limited options its actually ok but as things progress toward a second installment you need more options or it limits what you can do in terms of multiple runs. Starting with multiple options gives you even more potentially new content to play with.
I get the feeling however we're in for inquisition style romance you can bang everyone you're allowed to immediately after banging and dumping someone else all on a single play.
But you have to lock the MC into a specific set of prerequisites first.

I still can't believe they actually wrote that and had it actually release with that "romance" in the DLC.

Was that in the Citadel DLC? That one was odd... while really funny, it occasionally gave me the feeling that it was written by a completely different set of writers. Like Wrex not remembering what his clan name and his given name was.
