What do you think the combat in ME:A can do to stand out from the boring 3rd person shooter genre?

mass effect 1 release date November 20, 2007 its been 8 years since its release and people talk about it everyday like it just release today..there's not  another game or game developer that can say that about their game...bioware is the best of the best so why would you bring in inferior influences its just going to make mass effect andromeda into a below average game for bioware they all ready made that mistake with mass effect 3.

Civ 4 : 11 years old and still regarded by some as the best in the series

SimCity 4 : 13 years old and still played/modded

Doom : 23 years old and is still being played/modded

Actually - speaking of Doom, the new one seems to be a lot more vertical; you can climb up things. That wouldn't be a bad mechanic in any shooter and with ME:A it could incorporate the jetpack (there is a PvP mode in Doom where you can become a Revenant and have your very jetpack).

Agreed.  :P

Silly Divo, the casuals wouldn't be able to endure the glory of being an undead.

This is an easy question. BioWare needs to get the source code for the cancelled Star Wars 1313 from Lucasfilm and take all of the amazing ideas from that game:

This honestly could have been one of the best 3rd person shooters, and certainly Star Wars games, ever made had it been finished. Damn you Mickey Mouse!!!!

I hope the Star Wars game Visceral is working on is 1313 reborn. They are working on a third-person "Uncharted" style Star Wars game.

Out of curiosity what did you think looked so great about the gameplay (starting at about 3 minutes) there? To me ME3 gameplay was way better than what we saw there which was extremely simplistic and slow. Are you really just talking about the setting?

Edit : Also Disney was the best thing to happen to Star Wars in a long time.

Rumor has it Visceral is using 1313 as the inspiration for this 3rd person open world game they are making. Also, the protagonist is supposed to be Han Solo, which is fitting considering the writer from the Uncharted series came on board. She loves Harrison Ford, which is obviously who Nathan Drake was based off of.

Han Solo? Interesting. I would've preferred Boba Fett but Han Solo will do, as long as Harrison is doing to VO work. I'm not too thrilled about a young Han movie, I wouldn't be thrilled about someone else doing the VO work for this game, if it is indeed about Mr. Solo.

Well for one, this was just a tech demo. It was by no means the finished product. Also, keep in mind this demo was shown at E3 2013. To start, it's absolutely stunning, which MEA thankfully has down. The melee finisher moves are nice, with ME3 only having the omni-blade finisher. The dynamically changing environment with the ships falling and colliding to change the gameplay was a neat. Obviously, the cutscenes and the storytelling that were presented were also extremely well-done. This game incorporated a lot of aspects of a seamless cover system (ME's cover has always been a bit awkward), 3rd person shooter, platformer, and this was all in a few short minutes.

I think MEA could learn from this in the sense that ME1-3's environments were largely static and unchanging. Enemies were predictable and the game was largely just shooting enemy sponges until they expired. There was also another video that showed some different gameplay, but I'm not sure where that is at the moment.

While I think Disney is good for Star Wars to a point, cancelling 1313 (along with Republic Commando 2, the Darth Maul Game, etc.) was not one of those good reasons.

The only reason many speculate it is a Han Solo game is because a lot of the staff at Visceral keep posting posters and action figures of Han Solo on their twitter feeds. They also keep on using a symbol with two crossed bones and a stormtrooper helmet instead of a skull, which many believe relates to smuggling and the underworld. I have no idea if Harrison Ford would even be interested in doing VO, as I'd assume this is probably a younger Han anyway. We'll see though. I know Nolan North seemed to have some insight into the project, so perhaps he may get to voice Solo as he already voices Nathan Drake.

Hmm. If the VA can do a good Solo impersonation then I guess I wouldn't mind. I would MUCH rather a Boba Fett game with Temuera Morrison doing the VO. He has voiced in Star Wars games before. Playing as a bounty hunter, running around the underworld during the time of the Empire would be amazing!

MEA needs a melee class that can use a sword or swords made up of biotic energy.
