As for me, I think this is my 4th time? Though my previous return didn't last so long. Not long enough to get good again. So taking long enough breaks is key.

About my 7th time, but it's only a semi-return, I don't play 6-8(-10-12-14) hours straight, like I used to. Maybe 3-4 games.
Yeah I know. Those 6-8(-10-12-14) were the good ol' days. Like I'm old now and don't have the energy anymore. Here's hoping Andromeda comes with the same pick me up kick.
I retired for about a week, but don't play a lot anymore
^ How many hours you have?
NVM. Your bo0b filled profile filled me in. 1428H 21M 32S

Andromeda's release will be my first time out of a long retirement...
Did you ever binge farm FBWGG before they changed it? I used to do that for hours on end.
No. I came in just after the change. So last DLC was the only one I got to see the build up and anticipation for sadly. I really wish I was there since the demo days. Biggest regret I have. But I started the entire ME series late. And didn't move onto mp until after I beat the series once more from the start. If I would of went to mp after one playthrough, I would of made it in sooner.
The first two DLCs looked like the coolest to witness for the first time. Earth DLC is kind of a letdown for me in retrospect. Mostly because of the maps. Those are the weakest maps in the game in my opinion. But why the last DLC didn't come with the finished map is the biggest crime ever.
Andromeda's release will be my first time out of a long retirement...
So what other videogame you play in the meantime?
I think I've declared retirement about 3 times, but clearly the game isn't as fun as it is the first time around. When I play now, my mind checks out and I get really bored. Nowadays, I usually play 3 to 4 games in a week and it hasn't made the experience more exciting. PC feels more interesting than on Wii U since I'm doing weird things I don't normally try on Wii U to make up for my handicaps. I have yet to fire up Origin and play in weeks though.
Only once, & it was bout a year.

That's when a vacation comes in handy. The first one did the most to recharge my batteries. Almost as good a being a new player, plus kept me going for just as long if not longer. The 3rd time coming back almost just as long and strong... maybe I came back 5x or 6x now that I think of it. I don't remember... but after the third was when I got too good at the game, and that's what killed it a lot of the fun.

When I came back from my first prolonged break, it was energizing. I've since dialed down my play but it's not helping. I feel really bored and it's not like I'm learning much new from playing now. I'm not good by any stretch of the imagination and that playing outside my comfort zone should help me out. I suppose it's why I have more fun playing on PC. Because I'm having to use weapons I don't normally use. Krysae, Striker, Falcon, etc. Cannot Aim Builds! lol
Retirement would suggest you get some sort of payment to not play, not talking to people and feeling outside air in your lungs. So your answer is none of these people ever "retired".
This one is my fourth, I think. Strangely enough, after prolonged breaks, my skill always seems to increase a bit.
^ It's true. But it takes a bit to adjust at first. The longer the break, the longer to get back into it.
So what other videogame you play in the meantime?
Bloodborne
Fallout 4
BO3
two and a half times
None, because I never intended to retire definitively. I've taken several breaks but I knew they were temporary. I will likely play ME3, at least occasionally, until ME:A is released or until the servers are closed if the new game isn't good.
^
Same I won't be doing my usual Asari activities for some time. I usually play mass effect once in a blue moon even though defeating pugs alone is much fun but I'm a very social being so i get bored after a while.
I guess i'll still go on the forums time to time because there's so much great people here ![]()

Used to farm that for hours everyday before a new dlc released just to get tons of credits.
RIP FBWGG
On-topic though, I'm not having as much fun playing these days as i've unlocked everything i want, and i'm thinking about resetting my manifest/progress if that's possible. Might just buy the game again.
I never retired, I just don't play much, well hardly ever ![]()
but the new GF just got it so I might be around a bit more once she gets around to playing MP
