WHo else is already tired of scanning planets to find stuff even with the upgrade its still slow and taxing I've probably already spent half my game time scanning planets dose any one else feel this or have a suggestion to speed this process up further?

I enjoy it too, reminds me of my surveying days staking out points. Although I am having hard luck finding element zero.

I don't enjoy it, yet when I start scanning I can't stop until every planet in a system is depleted.

I liked it, so far..
I hope every ME(1~3) is little different, so you won't get tired of it.

If it was faster it would be great. Even with the scanning upgrade it is still too slow. It should be only slightly slower than the default cursor speed.

It's not that bad, although I can imagine that by my umpteenth playthrough I'll want to choke whichever Bioware staffers came up with scanning.
What I do to make scanning go faster is instead of just holding down the button to scan I'll constantly tap it. Doing this basically lets my little scanning circle move at the same speed it would if I wasn't scanning. If you do this you have to have be paying attention to the sysmic (sp?) graph to make sure you don't miss any resources, because tapping it like that doesn't really give the controller time to rumble. You'll just see the spike on the graph from the resources.

I enjoyed it at first, same with the other mini-games, but.... after the 50th time, I felt like putting a gun to my head and pulling the trigger.
Bioware REALLY needs to pace their mini-games. They didn't seem to learn this lesson back in ME1. Even the Mako would've been fine if you didn't have to do it 100x(not even an exaggeration since multiple replays will easily surpass that number).
Bioware did learn their lesson with the side missions, though. Theyre all varied so you never feel like you're "grinding".

yeah, if every planet just had like 2 or 3 areas with minerals (while still having the same total amount of resources as they do with the 25 small nodes they seem to have now) and they had the white arrow guiding you towards it like when you're searching for an anomaly i think scanning would be much less of a chore after the initial "wow this is neat" moment wears off

I would enjoy it more if the distribution were somewhat equal. Instead, i have about 20k of Eezo, 90k of irridium, 75k of Palladium, and a whopping 800 of Platinum, so most of the time, im trying to find platinum that is never there.

scanning is definitely something that isnt going to make ME2 better. simply put, its boring. too bad its necessary.

I don't mind it...however I would have liked it if the scanning upgrade not only sped it up ( perhaps a little more than it is currently upgraded ) but also covered a larger swath in one pass, and more sensitive.

Where does one get this upgrade?

If I'm not mistaken, I think it's an upgrade Miranda unlocks when you talk to her...

I found it tedious. I hope it goes away in ME3.

Thank God for PC cheating. I haven't scanned a planet since my first playthrough.
