How about an ex-Cerberus character who survived the Reaper "upgrades?"

First of all, **** Cerberus. I do not want those turds anywhere near ME:A.

However, after seeing that infamous gif of the Nemesis taking her mask off, I thought, what if one of those "upgraded" Cerberus goons actually somehow turned against Cerberus, had the implants removed, or otherwise was separated from both TIMmy control and Reaper indoctrination? I would guess that would be a pretty darn interesting character, assuming they weren't completely insane from the experience. Most likely this would be impossible, as it's made pretty clear in ME1 that once you are indoctrinated (which presumably happens pretty quickly after getting Reaper Tech jammed into your head), then without Reapers around to give you "guidance" you will eventually have your brain burn up.

So yeah, while this probably wouldn't pass the test of existing ME lore on Indoctrination, it would be even harder to justify such a character in the ME:A story.

But hey, I think it would be pretty cool to have a teammate who was a Phantom or Centurion in their past life. Talk about your personal baggage, not to mention all those fun flashbacks.

And of course they would have to be a romance option.

Well it could happen. Mayber we will learn during the game that we aren't a group of hand picked specialists sent to colonize the Andromeda galaxy, but a bunch of people the Citadel Council does not want anywhere near them and they hope we all die during the mission. That could leave us will all sorts of nasty characters, or at the very least nice characters with lots of skeletons in their closets.

Maybe the Cerberus scientist, Jana, can be in the game. Doubtful

Wow, there's an idea.  But when does the Ark leave?  When in the events of ME would be my question.

I wouldn't put it past Cerberus to have a few agents on board to boost humanity's interests, if one of them was a bad guy who then eventually turned to be on your side, that'd be cool.  How far along they'd have gotten in the ME3 timeline before leaving, would, I guess determine how warped they'd become.

I like your thinking....

Oh. My. God.

There's a thought, that would be amazing.  Like ME2 again, a bunch of misfits SAVING THE WORLD  :D

I would love to "romance" a ex-phantom and it would be very interesting.

Five replies and not a single "no"? Well, here it is.

No. No Cerberus. No ex-Cerberus. No pre-Cerberus. No alt-Cerberus.

I believe it was confirmed that we leave 3 years after ME3. Or at least the game is set 3 years after ME3.

They have flexibility.

Maybe so, but I like for my main character to have a poster of TIM in the cabin. Humanity #1.

 Humanity #1.

Well, that's a common motto for people with blonde women on their avatars. Or you are all one person? Damn indoctrination messing with my brain again.

Do you have something against women with blonde hair? Regardless of what my avatar is, I always will have humanity being #1.

So would you say no to a blond ex cerberus love interest?

Man gotta have standards. Homicidal, cannibalistic bieber fan - tolerable. Anything related to Cerberus - God, no.

I'd prefer everyone that was alive in the time of the Ark departure would be long, long dead by the start of MEA. Either because the ark ship took a long time to reach the galaxy or because it's quite after its arrival that the game takes place. This latter in quite likely, as we've seen what look liked Krogan ruins in the E3 presentation, that would take time.

I beg to differ. Homicidal and cannibalistic

But then you totally fucked it with "Bieber".

Huh....*shrugs*

What do you mean "come back from"? I wouldn't go there with a 10 ft top tier booby staff.

I went through something similar. All the things I never imagined whinging about in my life suddenly popped up before me.

It's that bad to the point I will be watching something on TV or reading a book and thinking, "Would this offend somebody?"

Here's a one more 'NO'. No Cerberus of anykind or a bunch of rejects the Counsil or whoever wants to get rid of. Absolutely no. And an ex-Cerberus LI...?

Why? What's wrong with a bunch of council rejects? There are waaay too many stories about destined heroes saving the whole world. How about something different. And remember in Mass Effect 2 everyone was working for Cerberus. Even Shepard.
