Alright, this is just for the lulz, but on my most recent playthrough I noticed Hawke can flirt, kiss, and sleep with a disproportionate number of elves.

I think the Qunari situation is another one, because you can go for a more even-handed approach or take a hardline stance. But the different ways Hawke can treat mages and elves is certainly interesting. Even "nice" human characters have, err, the occasional culturally racist moment? Like Aveline not seeming to mind that elves slept on the outskirts of town in Lothering or Anders saying that Fenris seems "less a man than a wild dog".
I don't think Hawke ever has the opportunity to be quite that douchey, though, aside from the Kelder bit. And snarky Hawke can poke fun at the Dalish, but that's about it I think.

Haha it's kinda true. Hawke can save/help and flirt with a lot of elves... Even Anders wants to know what's up with Hawke and all the "cute elves with no self preservation instinct" in the dlc banter.
I'm thinking maybe they were foreshadowing DAI a little with all the elven stuff... ?

Well, elves are supposed to be highly attractive to humans in the DA 'verse (which makes DA2's elf model retcon even more of a headscratcher than it would have been otherwise) so this does sort of make sense canonically.
It still doesn't make it any easier for my canon Hawke to hear Gamlen talk about her being "into elves," however. She's into one very specific elf and would like nothing more than the option to punch her dear uncle out for making racist statements like that.

I only got Gamlen's line twice, yet 3 of my 4 Hawkes romanced an elf. Although, one (Honey badger) romanced Tallis (also Anders). You get the line in Act 3, right? I always do MotA in Act 2.
Actually, is it possible for Hawke to have a dwarf fetish? You can't flirt with Varric, can you? It's been a while since I played DA2, so I don't remember.
To be serious though, fetish is kind of a bad word for Hawke. I think they care about their lost past and want to help in some way. At least with Fenris and Merrill.
