Correct information: Heart of Pride, Saar-Taar Shield, Ring of Asaaranda, Glyphs of Aqun. Proto's post is excellent, although I have some minor quibbles with the build order, but they're not worth debating.
Ability 4, ... Athlok Burst used in both Flow and Finishing stance(s) for CC and setting up your allies for Shatter opportunities. Notice I emphasize allies - this does not require you to upgrade Athlok Burst, although you may do so, but then you're no longer in pure support territory. Freezing all the (susceptible) enemies within 8 meters is a very powerful support move.
Your sequence of casting (once you have applied Glyphs to all your allies) should be:
- Ring, Ring, Shield (if near allies);
- Leap, Ring, Shield (if not near allies while you still have Leap...);
- Shield, Ring, Burst (if surrounded by enemies and all allies have sufficient Barrier...);
- Shield, Burst, Burst (if surrounded by enemies and you (and ideally your allies) already have max no. of stacks in Flow (aka Speed) Ring [ie 3 stacks]).
(Dredging up some old threads in my boredom today apparently)
This is actually the build I ended up using recently in nightmare ( Barrier, Ring, Glyphs, and Burst ). But, I used a different combination generally:
- Burst, Ring, Shield (75% of the time), or sometimes
- Burst, Ring, Burst, or sometimes
- Burst, Burst, Burst, or sometimes
- Ring, Ring, Ring... heck, alot of variety actually exists.
During casts, I would run up near some enemies. The first burst is not a bad attack, the 2nd ring speeds up your attack, and barrier of course. If everyone has barriers or there are a sufficient number of enemies near you, throw in a few extra bursts...
This is really a good balance and still only has you using one of your four skills as an offensive attack skill. I would almost never auto-attack with the staff, and just switch to burst when enemies are near.
The sign of a good Saarebas is the number of times people at the end of the run would say things like, "Woah. That wasn't very hard.", "Yeah, surprisingly easy NM run!"
