I am also a writer and I have assisted in writting Strategy Guides for Games in the past. I know I am not the easiest wrtier to understand however I think I am doing fine out here.
It took me only 68 hours to complete ME 2 Hardcore. I did some messing around with the exploration just to get my upgrades. I had level 4 weapon damage on all weapons. Ship was fully upgraded. I imported my character a level 60 Soldier from ME 1 and I made it to level 24 Soldier. I always enjoyed putting a lot of bullets down range. I upgraded to the Machine Gun and gave the enemy something to worry about. I was able to kill most enemies on full auto in about 20 rounds. It's not good for long range so I had to rush a lot.
Anyways when I started getting involved with it I noticed a lot of changes. I noticed you don't get the original crew back except Garrus and Tali. I would of been interested to see how the story line continued with the crew especailly Ash. They do show up in game. I was sad to see they didn't give Tali a face in game. She has always been behind a visor. I thought at this point she would of trusted Sheppard enough to remove the face shield so we can see what she looks like. I hope they don't do the same with ME 3. Don't kill anymore story lines!
The new headshot system was nice however when you have a full auto MG going off the odds of hitting the head are slim. It was a good crowd control just spray n pray. The new Armor system was nice however my only complaint was that I didn't get my Heavy Armor. I am use to wearing that in my games. The new mineral system was a pain in the but. It really wasn't a game of Battleships all you were doing was scrolling around until you heard the sound that the scanner makes when it detects something.
Download and major issues occured upon getting the game resulting in over an hour worth of repair. All manual too which I was not happy about. I admit to going off in forums. It did suck waiting until midnight for the special opening at EB Games take it home and realize it needs repairs. I was hoping to come home and get to see the new world. I know everything is not perfect however the situation is what did it for me.
What I mean by manual is that you did the C:/ documents crap. In my opinion a game should have that system built in upon release. Not everyone who gets a PC is good at that stuff. They can get lost and eventually give up. I hate seeing it because I would love to help however I know I can't.
In short my review of ME 2 (PC) is an 80%. The manual labor and the story line killing was the two major issues I had with ME 2. I know not every game has heavy armor so I can tolerate that. The new weapons and class modifications were great. I did appreciate my Chain (Mini-Nuke) and my Machine Gun.
