Hnnn, I guess I hadn't noticed because I haven't played any human lady Inquisitors. Are their models off?

Honestly, they look like elves with *a little* more weight.

Maybe there's a food shortage in Ostwick?

Am I the only one who likes elves being uber-thin? It makes them more distinct from humans. I personally find it ideal if nonhumans fall into a certain degree of proportion-based uncanny valley; they are different.

I don't mind them being thin. I mind the weird proportions - the shoulders, especially, for someone of their height. Fenris in DA:2 didn't have broader shoulders, but they hit the absurdity of their rig behind armour (like Solas).

Here's a pic of them both.

My belief is either they have some sort of genetic hormonal issue(s), or that this is meant to show the general degradation of their genome due to the Veil's creation.

Although, IMO Solas does not look much better.  He doesn't have the bobble head, though.

Wait, is that vanilla?  I've never played a male elf, he looks so....skinny.   And as you said, a bobble head.  Sheesh, don't know if I could look at that for the whole game.  Solas seems a little better proportioned at least.

No, I like the proportions too. I like having them be shaped differently from humans.

I think they should give elves crippling scoliosis.

You know, I'm certain that there's elf ryona out there somewhere you can masturbate to without really needing Dragon Age.

I wish the female elf PC had better proportions, like this modded one.

I mean... just look at this. How do they even balance that thing on their shoulders?

I don't kind differently shaped. I mind the absurdity. Like male qunari being the other absurd extreme of pointless buffness.

I think it is entirely possible to create a build that is not typically human without looking like an emancipated abuse victim.

Yeah, but I hate the DA elves (well, the Dalish) especially... and it's fun inciting your righteous anger.

You save those poor oppressed pixels Xil!

As with most things, DA:O did it best.

Not just you, Xil, but apparently "realism" means conforming to standard human body proportions, and in a fantasy realm of magic, demons and dragons, skinny elves are just pushing things too far.

To be fair, I don't like the gigantic male Qunari either. Both of those are just too much. But as I said earlier, I also dislike the thinness of the female human. I like both gender of dwarf just fine, in all games that have had them.

I don't find Qunari appealing at all, but I have no problem with them being in the game. (Yes I know I have one as my avatar but I like his face.)

I can't disagree with the idea of more variation in body shape within the races though. That would certainly make sense. I guess that's down to where BioWare choose to channel their development resources, though...

I don't find the elves too skinny, since I was mostly fine with Merrill and Fenris' figures in DA2. The difference was that Fenris didn't have broken arms or weird chest shape, and he was shorter. Taller than DAO elves (since Zevran was shorter than a female human, but Fenris is about the same height), but shorter than DAI elves.

In DAI, male elves seemed taller than human women, without getting any stockier. It just made them look really weird. Not so bad in armour, but ugly in the Skyhold outfit.

Not very bad, it is possible to get used to it:

I don't think I would want Tidus with man boobs or looking like Charles Atlas. I would like to see the return of the Elven bodies used in DA:O. As far as Camine again the Elven bodies from DA:O and the ability to keep her large green eyes and light red hair..

DAO didn't have Elven bodies. It had slightly smaller human bodies.

Edit: And actually Sten just looked like a quite tall man. The only race who actually looked like a different species were the dwarves. I love DAO but I think that DA2 and DAI both do a much better job of portraying the different races as actually being distinguishable from one another..

There's always talk about what they got 'wrong', but you know what I like about DAI's elf design? The faces.

They're on-point. They're alien enough to be a different species (that sort of fine-boned, large-eyed look that elves are known for), but they also feel like they're one of four major races and not something out of a different game entirely. Does that make sense? I thought they struck a perfect balance between the humans-with-pointy-ears of DAO and the exaggerated facial characteristics of DA2, in my humble opinion.

At the character creation I tried to keep it the elf features from DA2.

I thought the Qunari were just a group of tall humans for awhile in DAO...

I appreciate the effort to make them distinguishable but they went a bit too far in making the elven bodies so scrawny.  Honestly what bugged me the most was the shoulders, or rather the lack of them, it was like someone cut off the elves shoulders and connected the rest of the arm at the socket.  That's why Solas' body type was such an improvement to me, he actually had broad noticeable shoulders.

Yeah, elf faces look perfect in DAI. They've got that classic Tolkien/D&D look to them, which should be the elven ideal.

DA:2 Elf faces look like some Aliens from a distant planet. So far the best Elven bodies was in DA:O like I mention earlier.

The majority of mythical Elf paintings shows a short human with pointy ears with a slim to medium built..

According to a book on mythical people and places I read  several years ago ( a fun read)  some Elves rode a Pegasus into battle.
