On a more serious note, maybe something like Star Waves from the Oblivion soundtrack?

I'm trying to think of Sci Fi movies that had romance scenes and a soundtrack similar to the Mass Effect games, and it's the only thing I can think of offhand.

I guess the theme I'd choose would have to go hand in hand with the situation as well as the setting. Therefore, there are practically any number of themes I could choose from but considering the sci-fi setting alone I think some of these would do nicely:

I also like the score that plays at the very end, which makes a pretty nice sound for a reuniting scene.

The soundtrack to Oblivion was fantastic. There were quite a few tracks in the film that could have been a Mass Effect game and wouldn't have stood out as having a noticeably different vibe than the rest of the soundtrack.
